Annapurna Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a low altitude trekking in Nepal. Widely popular as Annapurna Sunrise Trek, it starts and ends in amazing Pokhara city. Among the trekkers, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is also famous as Annapurna Panorama Trek or as Ghorepani Poon Hill Ghandruk Trek. The maximum elevation trekkers get during the trek is 3,210m. at Poon Hill.

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, one of our representatives will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. Take good rest and get refreshed of the jet lag. In the evening, you will be joining a welcome dinner organized by our team in an authentic Nepali restaurant with a cultural program. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and preparation day

A full day Kathmandu Valley sightseeing is dedicated to introducing the City of Temples. This day you will be visiting four of the UNESCO World Heritage Listed sites. First, you will visit Soyambhunath- “The Monkey Temple” where you can see the handful of monkeys playing around. You can also collect a picturesque view of Kathmandu City from the top.

Then after, you will go to explore Pashupatinath- a temple dedicated to Hindus and is also popular “Crematory Place”. In Pashupatinath, you can also meet some”Sadhu Baba”. Then after your tour goes to Boudhanath. Boudhanath is the largest Buddhist Stupa in South Asia. The final place you will be visiting today is Kathmandu Durbar Square which is an ancient palace place. It is also the place of the KUMARI.

After sightseeing, you can pack the gears that you need for trekking. Check the stuff and make sure everything is included. Overnight at the hotel.

Highlights of Pashupatinath:-

Oldest Hindu temple in Nepal dating back to the 5th century.

Pashupatinath temple interior is off-limits to non-Hindus (foreigners/tourists) there’s quite a bit to see and experience around the rest of the area.

Ritual cremations occur daily along the riverside and a can be a sight to behold for those who have not seen Hindu cremations before.

Converse with one of mysterious Sadhus that often congregated here

Note: Beware of the monkeys – they steal food, shiny objects and will take things from your hand or bag!

Highlights of Bouddhanath:-

‘The Lord of Wisdom’ Bouddhanath and is the biggest Stupa in the Asian

Locals believed to have been built in the 5th century

The complex is often called a mini Tibet as many Tibetans live around the stupa and it reflects the Tibetan form of Buddhism

it is a center for learning and practicing Buddhism because lots of monasteries around Bouddhanath

Visitors must go around the stupa in clockwise direction spinning the prayer wheels as it brings more happiness, infinite merits, and good luck.

Highlights of Kathmandu Durbar Square:-

locals of Kathmandu call it Hanuman Dhoka, it is named after the Monkey God, Hanuman.

World Heritage Site and history says that its design goes back to the 9/10th century complex consists of a lavish royal palace and around it is lots of temples dedicated to different Hindu gods and goddesses.

Living Goddess – The Kumari, a young girl who goes through the most rigorous selection test. She acknowledges the greetings of visitors from her balcony window and the shrine is believed to be built from just a single tree named Kastamandap – (the origin of the name – Kathmandu.)

Highlights of Swoyambhunath:-

Locals believed that the original stupa existed 2000 years ago but the present stupa is said to be built after the 14th century.

Swoyambhunath means ‘ The shrine existing by itself’ – it is often called ‘The Monkey Temple’ as there are lots of monkeys scampering around Stunning View of Kathmandu Valley

All around the complex, there are shrines and statues of Buddhist and Hindu deities side by side illustrating the religious harmony that exists between them

Day 3: Drive/Fly to Pokhara (6-7 hours drive or 30 minutes flight)

By Tourist Bus: – As your bus leaves early morning at 7 a.m., take an early breakfast and catch your bus from Tourist Bus Station. The journey to Pokhara is always wonderful as you will pass several small and big settlements via raging Trishuli River. On the way, the bus will stop for lunch.

By Private Vehicle: – You can also drive to Pokhara with a private vehicle. Trek Nepal Himalayas arranges private vehicle transportation to Pokhara on our client’s request. You are requested to add the request for the private vehicle while making the booking.

By Flight:-

Those who do not want to travel overland, or want to skip the long journey on the bumpy road can choose this option. The Flight will take around 30 minutes to get to Pokhara.

In Pokhara, you can finally check the gears and can hire or buy them if you have forgotten anything. In the evening walk around the wonderful Phewa Lake yourself. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Drive to Nayapul (1.5 hours drive) and trek to Ulleri (1960m./4-5 hours trek/ 8 km approx.)(Lunch/Dinner)

Take an early breakfast and get ready for the trekking. Today you will first take a short drive to Nayapul from Pokhara. From Nayapul, you will be starting your trekking. The trail from Nayapul is an easy trail where you walk through the stone-paved steps passing several small villages. Just below Ulleri, you will be treated with the first glimpse of Annapurna South. Overnight in Ulleri at a teahouse.

Day 5: Trek to Ghorepani (2860m./6-7 hours/12km. approx.. )

(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

A tough yet wonderful trekking day. Today you will be trekking through the dense rhododendron forest. The hiking will be more special if it is in the spring as the Rhododendron blooms around with seven colors. Upon you reach Ghorepani, you will forget all the pains you had during the walking as the mountain views are just perfect and refreshing. Enjoy a hot cup of tea with awe-inspiring views of the mountains. Overnight at a teahouse.

Highlights of Poon Hill:-

Mind-blowing Sunrise & Sunset view

Mighty Himalayan range such as Annapurna South, Bahari Shikhar, Himchuli, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri ranges, Tukuche peak, Annapurna I, II, III, IV, Lamjung Himal, Mt. Manaslu ranges, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and others mountains.

Day 6: Hike to Poon Hill (3,210m./1 hour trek/2.5km approx.), trek to Tadapani (2,600m./4-5 hours trek/8km. approx.)(B/L/D)

The best day of the trekking. Wake up early morning, take your torchlight and start the hiking up to Poon Hill. It takes one hour to get up to Poon Hill from Ghorepani. At Poon Hill, you can collect the superb sunrise view in Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan ranges.

After collecting the amazing views, trek back to Ghorepani for the breakfast, then after start your trek to Tadapani. On the way to Tadapani, the wonderful views of the mountains accompany you. Overnight at Tadapani.

Day 7: Trek to Ghandruk (1940m./3-4 hours trek/7 km approx.)(Bed/Lunch/Dinner)

An easy trekking day. The trail of the day is mostly easy and downhill. In Ghandruk is a wonderful Gurung ethnic village. Ghandruk also offers wonderful views of the mountains. You can also visit a museum there and can try some local costumes. Overnight at Ghandruk.

Day 8: Trek back to Nayapul (950m./4-5 hours trek/ 7 km approx.) and drive back to Pokhara(820m./1.h hours)(Breakfast included)

From Ghandruk, you will trek back to Nayapul again. From Nayapul, you will drive back to Pokhara with a private vehicle. In Pokhara, you can take good rest. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: An extra day in Pokhara

An extra day in Pokhara is always worthwhile. Do boating on Phewa Lake, visit Tal Barahi Temple, Gupteshwor cave plus the Devid Falls this day. You can also do several other adventure sports including, Paragliding, Ultralight, Bungee Jumping, Zip Flyer or you can just rent a mountain bike and paddle around the City of the Lakes. Enjoy the free day. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Drive/Fly to Kathmandu (6-7 hours drive or 30 minutes flight)

By Tourist Bus:–

As your bus leaves early morning at 8 a.m., take an early breakfast and catch your bus from Tourist Bus Station and drive back to Kathmandu. On the way, the bus will stop for the lunch.

By Private Vehicle:–

You can also drive back with a private vehicle. Trek Nepal Himalayas arranges private vehicle transportation to Kathmandu on our client’s request. You are requested to add the request for the private vehicle while making the booking.

By Flight:

Those who do not want to travel overland, or want to skip the long journey on the bumpy road can choose this option. The Flight will take around 30 minutes to get to Kathmandu.

In Kathmandu, you can do some last shopping in Thamel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Fly back home

After completing an amazing trip, this day you will be transferred to the airport to catch your returning flight. Trip Ends.
