Pokhara literally means the city of lakes. The city has famous lakes including Phewa, Begnas and Rupa. Extending from 823 m above the sea level to 1750 m, the city has very beautiful places to visit. Phewa lake, world peace stupa, David's fall, Gupteshwor Cave, the Seti river Gorge, Sarangkot, International Mountain Museum etc are some of the attractions of the city. The top hill peak of Sarangkot is the best view spot to observe the sunrise, Sunset and panoramic views of the mountains including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchre, (the fish tail) and Manaslu.
The city is the hub for adventurous activities including paragliding, ultralight, rafting, village safari, zip flyer and so on. The splendid view of the Annapurna can be viewed by helicopter flight to the base camp.
