Takht bhai Buddhist Monastery is an ancient monastery of Tourist Buddhists in this region. It was operational from 1st to 7th century latter it was destroyed by white Huns in 7th century.
During British rule this site was excavated by British archeologists. Many artifacts & Budha status were recovered from a village called Sahri Bahlol.All these artifacts are on display in peshawar Museum.
This site is only 1.30 hrs drive from the main city of peshawar towards mardan & from islamabad it's a travel of 2.5 hours. This site is situated on the high mound in the village of Takht Bhai, it has got four chambers.
Since 1980 it has been declared Unesco world Heritage site.
