Quito City Line: Historic Center + Middle of the World + Cable Car
We will head to the great cable car of Quito, located on the slopes of the Pichincha Volcano, in an area of 160 hectares. You will travel 15 minutes through the slopes of the huge Pichincha. We will reach the top and enjoy a beautiful view of the eastern valleys, the old town, the north and the south of Quito. We will go through a road that will take us to visit the high part of the Pichincha Volcano, then we will visit the most amazing volcanoes that are active today.
Once we are at 3042 m.a.s.l. we will take a short walk to see the endemic flora and fauna of the place, where our guide will tell you the history of each of the mountains or "Apus" of our Andes (each one is a character of the avenue of volcanoes). Afterwards, we will invite you to enjoy the largest and best preserved historical center in South America. Discover with us and start your day visiting the Basilica Church of Voto Nacional, where we will make a brief stop for an explanation of its facade and history, then we will move to the Historic Center named by UNESCO as the first World Heritage Site in 1978.
We will continue our exciting journey to the Plaza de San Francisco, one of the representative places of the city and full of history, from where we will visit the Plaza Grande, historical and political center of the city, surrounded by countless attractions among which are: The Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Archbishop's Palace and the Church of La Compañía.
Later we will visit the traditional neighborhood of La Ronda, recognized as the oldest street in the city of Quito, in whose bohemian environment we can find workshops where our friends will learn about how artisans elaborate their works of art and crafts to keep the traditions alive. Also in this emblematic street, you will have the opportunity to visit an ice cream shop where you can find very traditional flavors of Ecuador not only of fruits but also interesting flavors of traditional drinks.
Finally, after visiting this endearing place we will move on to the emblematic monument, a tourist complex of the middle of the world where you will have some historic information about the French Geodesic Mision 1736 and all the important scientific efforts and research that they shared with us in that time. You will have free time for lunch (not included) and then visit the surrounding attractions. After recharging your energies with a delicious lunch with traditional food in the Mitad del Mundo, we are sure you will enjoy it!
