Xor Virap , Noravanq, wine tours
Armenia is a hospitable country, therefore I am pleased to invite you to visit. Together with me you will go to magnificent monasteries to look at the ascetic Christian architecture and breathtaking mountain panoramas. And at home, in the village of Areni, I will treat you with traditional Armenian wine and fruit vodka, the production of which my family has been engaged in for more than a century.
Armenian shrines and view of Mount Ararat
The excursion will begin with a short trip along the expanses of the Ararat Valley. On the banks of the Araks River, you will visit the Khor Virap Monastery near the border with Turkey, from the walls of which you will see the biblical Mount Ararat. And at the end of the tour you can compare your impressions of the shrine with the emotions that you will experience at the spiritual center of Eastern Armenia, the family tomb of the princes Orbelian - Noravank Monastery. Here you will see the panorama of the gorge of the Arpa River. I will tell about the history of these ancient shrines and their architecture. And in the village of Areni you will become a guest of my family.
Wine tasting and local traditions
The village of Areni has long been known for its winemaking traditions, with which I will introduce you. My family is fifth-generation winemakers, so you'll hear a story about first-hand wine making technologies. And also find out what time of the year they produce different types of drinks. And be sure to taste those that will be on our table during your arrival. Get acquainted with the autochthonous wine “Areni”, with dry and semi-sweet pomegranate, and from October to December you will try young wine, an analogue of French Beaujolais. And we will offer you varieties of fruit vodka: from peaches, prunes, grapes or apricots.
