Volterra is a jewel of Etruscan, Medieval and Renaissance art.
It dominates the Val di Cecina from the top of a 550 m. above the sea level hill to the coast line.
History left its signs with continuity through artistic and monumental testimonies: a walk will start from the Etruscan origins along the city wall from the 4th Century BC and the foundations of the temples that still are at the top of the hill in the Archaeological Park E. Fiumi.
We will continue our visit with the Roman theatre and bath that were brought to light thanks to the so-called ’mad archaeologists’.
We will then arrive in the political and economic heart of the city with its market and the town hall; on the other side the religious centre with the baptistery, the cathedral and the bell tower.
Volterra, surrounded by its fairy landscape, is a city you will discover slowly; in the atmosphere of a civilization and culture that makes it unique in the world.
