The memorial lies on the Maidan (grounds) by the bank of the Hooghly River.

After your visit to the Victoria Memorial, travel to St. Paul’s Cathedral Church that was built in 1847. It is said to be the largest cathedral in Kolkata and the first Episcopal Church in Asia. It was also the first cathedral built in the overseas territory of the British Empire.

Afterwards, visit Dakshineswar Kali Temple that was founded in the middle of 19th century, devoted to Goddess Kali. You will then enjoy a ferry ride to Belur Math. It is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda, a chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Learn more about Ramakrishna Mission and enjoy the architecture over there.

Your next destination is Prinsep Ghat, built in 1841 during the British Raj, along the Kolkata bank of the Hooghly River in India. Take beautiful pictures of this ghat and enjoy the ice cream from a famous stall selling them for more than 40 years.
