When Mount Vesuvius erupted in the year 79, the fallout from that volcanic explosion preserved much of the Roman towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Pompeii gets most of the glory, described by Frommer’s as “Italy’s most famous archaeological site” and as “unique in the world.”

Nearby Herculaneum is smaller and gets less attention, but the ruins there are in an even better state of preservation.

Between them, Pompeii and Herculaneum are must-do tour destinations for visitors to the Bay of Naples.

The food is some of the best in Italy and also some of the most familiar to many of us.

The saying (often attributed to Goethe) goes “See Naples and Die”.

Wine tasting is a beautiful experience walking through the vineyard of the Mt.Vesuvius with a explanation of the way to grow grapes.

After you will taste one of the most famous and important neapolitan wine, the so-called “Lacryma Christi”, in a landscape full of colors, the green of the trees, the white of the reception and the light-blue of sea.

Moreover you can taste local food like “setaro” spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce and an appetizer with salame and local cheese.

The excavated area of Pompeii covers some 109 acres.

Although there are some large ruins, such as the amphitheater and the Temple of Vespasian, what sets Pompeii apart from so many ancient sites (aside from its scale) is that the common houses and streets remain well preserved.

What would be a mere foundation elsewhere is a two-story ruin in Pompeii.

That enables visitors to imagine what real life was in the Roman Empire, complete with its tiny apartments, carry-out eateries, public toilets and graffiti.

Tour order may be reversed but all sites will be visited.

Our rates include transportation in a comfortable van equipped with double air-conditioning and refreshments, English or Spanish speaking driver, highway tolls, car fuel and parking.

Exclude: Entrance tickets, lunch and any eventual extras and gratuities. Archeological sites free for children under 18.

Every itinerary can be modified to fit any special need or request.
