This tour starts from the Galleria dell'Accademia, the museum where Michelangelo's most impressive work, David, is displayed since the 19th century, together with many other unfinished statues.
Once inside the Colossus Room, we will introduce you to Michelangelo's artistic background. Then entering the gallery, we will look at the fascinating Prisoners to learn more about his technique and understand the significance of this powerful figures, designed for the tomb of Pope Julius II in Rome.
And while figuring the master at work with his hammer and chisel, we will finally get in front of David.

Our visit goes on moving to Piazza del Duomo to admire the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore topped by the Brunelleschi's dome, the majestic Giotto's bell-tower and the Baptistery with Ghiberti's golden doors known as the "Gate of Paradise" (offering another version of David...interesting to compare!)
The walk ends by Piazza della Signoria, a real "open air museum", where David was originally located. Its replica is actually surrounded by the masterpieces of Michelangelo's competitors, such as Cellini and Giambologna, showing the supremacy of Florence as "school of the world".
