PRAGPUR – MCLEODGANJ – MANDI – MANALI – MANIKARAN – GOSHAINI – THANEDAR – SHIMLA
HIMACHAL PRADESH, the region of eternal snow peaks, encompasses regions of great diversity, both on the cultural and the natural level. In the south, the Himalayan foothills have deep lush valleys, like those of Kullu or Kangra, surrounded by peaks that sometimes go over 6000m of altitude. Habited in majority by Hindus, these valleys are resplendent with temples and natural sanctuaries. In this region, you will also find Shimla, which was in the past the capital of British during summer, and Manali, a hill station adopted by the Hippies for the nonchalance of its inhabitants and its charas (hashish), and especially Dharamshala, where the Tibetan government in exile is installed and where His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama resides and also Manikaran, the holy pilgrimage for Hindus as well as for Sikhs.Though most of the ride covers asphalt roads but given the topography of Himachal Pradesh, we are likely to cross rocky and sandy terrain, so we expect our participants to have a penchant for adventure. We expect the riders to have an experience with biking.

MANDI – MANALI. (2050 M / 6765 FT) (110 KMS / 3 – 4 HRS)
Since the beginning of time Kullu Valley has been known as ‘The Valley of the Gods’. We enjoy one of the most spectacular days of motorcycle touring anywhere in the world today as we run the cliff hanging highway along almost vertical walls of jungle and cascading waterfalls of the Beas River Valley. An all-too-short ride brings us to the Honey Moon resorts town of Manali, with plenty of time to explore the shops and markets.
There is plenty to see around Manali and on the opposite side of the valley along with spectacular views can take you to Naggar castle, the estate and museum of Russian painter Nikolai Roerich and hot springs at Vashisht. Post lunch wecan explore the markets, temples and Tibetan refugee camps of this bustling mountain town.
MANALI – MANIKARAN. (1760 M / 5810 FT) (100 KMS / 3 – 4 HRS)
The ride from Manali to Manikaran is straight out of a picture book. The apple blossoms, the giant snowy peaks, with a sense of peace about them, sometimes lost in the clouds, so much like Shiva in repose… and of course the Beas River. That chortling, bubbling, terribly mischievous friend of the riders – the best companion ever on the Kullu-Manali stretch – meandering around a boulder, sensuously curving with a hairpin bend on the road, now temptingly close, and then mysteriously aloof and far away. We arrive to this place which has magical legends woven around a long stay celestial couple Shiva and Parvati enjoyed here. Even The Sikh Guru Nanak Dev was a visitor with his disciple to this beautiful spot ringed by grim, forbidding mountains, famous also for steaming hot sulphur springs (water temperatures here reach well above 90 degrees C).
MANIKARAN – GOSHAINI(1370 M / 4500 FT) (90 KMS / 2 – 3 HRS).
Post breakfast we ride on the same route back till Bhunter the main highway and then further on the same Mandi road till the Aut Tunnel which will divert our route on the small road in the Banjar Valley. We ride through the small road and typical himachal villages to Goshaini at the banks of river Tirthan.
GOSHAINI – JALORI PASS (3120 M / 10300 FT) – THANEDAR(2400 M / 7950 FT) (135 KMS / 4 – 5 HRS).
