Great White Shark cage diving is an utterly incredible experience that ALL the family can do – I have known 6 year old kids and 92 year old Grandmas to jump into the cage.

Great White Shark cage diving in Hermanus is a 365 day a year activity (weather permitting). Sharks are spotted all year long.

Great White Shark cage diving has been operating here for the last 28 years. This is THE place on the planet to do it, with a hit rate of 99% all year long and some boats can see up to 10 or 15 sharks in one trip out to sea, with literally loads of famous people doing it here in recent years – including – Prince Harry, Brad Pitt, King of Jordon, Matt Damon, Katie Melua, Steffi Graff, Sting, Nicholas Cage (apt name), Richard E Grant, Ruby Wax, Colin Jackson, John Lydon, Jamiroquai, Robbie Williams, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jude Law, Monica Seles, Michael Schumacher, Colin Farrell, Christopher Lambett, Maroon 5, One Republic, Justin Timberlake, Cameroon Diaz, Dolph Lundgren, Halle Berry filming the movie “Dark Tide” and believe it or not Barbara Windsor (if she can do it – anyone can :-)), David Attenborough and all the worlds film crews and documentary makers – Discovery Channel, BBC, Animal Planet, etc and many more.

There is NO need for scuba or snorkelling experience as it is all surface viewing and novices are very welcome. You pop on a wet suit, pop on a mask and jump into the cage, which is 3 metres high; 2 metres under water and 1 metre above it. When a shark approaches, all you do is hold your breath and duck-down into the lower section of the submerged cage. Resurfacing obviously to get another lung full of air - while probably screaming your lungs-out with excitement. Each cage holds up to 6 people in one go. You will be at sea for 3 to 5 hours.

You get included in the price - a light breakfast of coffee, tea, cereal, toast, fruit, yogurts etc; cold drinks and light snacks on board and then return to land for hot soup and munchies afterwards.

Professional DVD cameraman is also on board to capture all the action, including under water footage too. DVD is = R350

We deal with all the 7 operators and their prices per person are R1500 to R1950 this season. Very wise for us to book in advance as the boats do get booked up fast.

No discounts are given by any dive company for – non-divers (watchers), Pensioners, Students or SA Nationals.

We quote you the exact same price for ALL these 7 operators, as if you were to go to these companies directly. Therefore saving you loads of time and hassle

Morning trips usually go out at about 06.30am / 07.30am and get back to harbour 3 to 5 hours later (depending upon how playful the sharks are) – and then afternoon trips might commence.

It’s very wise to do a morning trip, as in the afternoon the wind can pick up abit and this creates waves therefore making these trips alittle more “wavey and rocky” and can get cancelled. So morning trips are best.

The Shark Boat Harbour is about 45 minutes around the bay from Hermanus. Transfers are also available in luxury minibuses, if you wish to be driven down to the boat. These usually cost about R250 per person for a Hermanus return door-to-door journey - OR - if you require a Cape Town return transfer they cost about R450 per person (2 hours each way)

Visibility, waves, wind and hot sunny conditions are all totally weather dependant – the less wind means less waves and that means less sand and sediment is being washed-about in the sea and creates much better and longer visibility.

Best place to watch is from the top deck that is 3 metres above the cage and all the action - please keep your camera on all the time as the action is very fast and digital cameras are slow to activate, plus best to take video footage as this records at 25 to 40 frames per second and when you get back to a computer you will have 100s of available photos to decide upon - fully charge your batteries the night before.

The best thing to do is book your Shark Diving trip to occur on the first day you are in Hermanus/Cape Town and if the weather is not so good on that first day, then we just move your trip to the next good weather day.

Many thanks and chat soon to organise your shark trip :-))
