Day 03: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

A spectacular trekking towards the most popular peak in the world, Mount Everest! The spectacular area, the Sagarmatha National Park, around this mountain guarantees a wonderful trekking. During the trek you will get acquainted with the fascinating Buddhist Sherpa culture. The Sherpas are friendly, social, curious and known to give you a warm feeling at home in their familiar mountain. The highlight of this trip is the ascent of 5545m high Kala Patar. The view is a stunning panorama of the highest peaks in the world. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Pumori with their impressive heights are very close. Throughout the trek, you can enjoy the distinctive shape of the Ama Dablam.
You start by travelling by plane from Kathmandu to Lukla. A spectacular flight of about 50 minutes ending in an airfield amidst the mountains. From Luklait is a 2 days walk to Namche Bazaar. Here we stay an extra day to acclimatize the body to the altitude. From Namche Bazaar a hike can be done to the Everest View Hotel, where you have a beautiful view of the mountains. This walk is ideal for acclimatization; higher walk, sleeping lower. A visit to the visitor center of the Sagarmatha National Park is an interesting introduction to the local flora and fauna, and the Sherpa culture. The trek continues its path along the Monastery of Thyangobche and the gompa of Dingboche. The monastery is an important cultural center in the Khumbu region. In Dingboche follows once again a day to acclimatize. It is possible to make a small climb to a ridge with views of Ama Dablam, Makalu and Amphu Labtsa peak. At Gorakshep you walk along moraines, an icy path. Slowly you hike towards Everest Base Camp and get a view of the impressive looking Khumbu glacier. At Everest Base Camp endpoint we'll give you a break so you can have a good look at the impressive snowmoutain peaks all around you.After a night sleep in Gorakshep you climb to Kala Patar for the following day. From this mountainspot you can almost touch the Pumori! Also on this site, we give you a moment because the beautifull scenery takes your breath away. The next few days it slowly descending towards Lukla. You pass back the lively Thyangboche monastery where you can also make a short visit. From Lukla you leave the mountains of the Sagarmatha National Park by plane.
