Become A Local In Zagreb

What can you expect
We will meet in front of Kraš shop on the Ban Jelačić square (across from Tourist Information Centre you will see a red Kraš sign). There you will try the most famous Croatian sweet, Bajadera. Now that we have our energy levels up you will get acquainted with the map of Zagreb (one will be provided for every traveler on the Become a Local walk). The introduction of the sights which you will see is in front of a model Zagreb salutes ( model of Zagreb city centre). From there we are going towards the biggest church in Croatia, the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (if it is open we will get to see the interior of it). The oldest open market in the city of Zagreb, Dolac market is our next stop. There we will see products from small farms, UNESCO protected craftwork, and the Fish market with the finest selection of the local fresh fish. We are leaving Dolac towards the most famous street in the city centre, Tkalčićeva street, which was in the past actually a creek. The bridge above that creek is now days the Bloody Bridge street which is leaning on Tkalčićeva street. On the way to the upper city just before we cross through the last remaining entrance to the upper city, the Stone gate, St. George will tell us a story how he concurred the dragon. The Upper City in Zagreb is considered to be the centre of political life in Croatia. There, on St. Mark's square you will see the Gouverneur mansion, our Parliament and in the centre, the most photographed building in Zagreb, St. Mark's Church. To have a memory to remember our Zagreb Become a local walk, we will take photo in front of the church. City Hall, unique Museum of Naive Art and Museum of Broken Relationships and Greek Catholic Church are anxiously waiting for us just around the corner while we are walking towards the end of the Upper City. At the very end of the upper city Lotrščak tower with our Grički cannon await for us. One of the shortest railway stations in the world, our Zagreb Funicular will take back to the Lower City of Zagreb. Just around the corner, Vincek, the oldest cake and pastry shop will be calling us to try the world famous Zagreb cream cake. From Vincek we are going to the Floral square and the most famous passage in the centre of Zagreb, Oktogon passage, where you will hear about Croatian great inventors. They say that in all things, how you finish something is the most important part. We will finish our Become a Local walk with a spectacular view on Zagreb from Zagreb Eye view point and caffe situated on the 16th floor of the skyscraper on the Ban Jelačić squre. After admiring the view we can enjoy in nice cup of coffee.
