Enjoy fabulous day trip from Tbilisi to the spiritual heart of Georgia-Mtskheta, popularly referred as “the Second Jerusalem” was the first capital of Georgian empire from 3rd c B.C to 5th c A.D .Here we visit the hilltop 6th century Jvari monastery-one of the best samples of the early-medieval Georgian ecclesiastical art and enjoy spectacular views of Mtskheta and the confluence of two rivers below.

We make our way down into the town where we visit Svetitskhoveli cathedral .Being one of the most important UNESCO world heritage sites in Georgia ,the 11th c. cathedral contains the grave of a young Christian girl-Sidonia, who was said to have been buried holding Christ’s robe.

Afterwards, We walk up to the ancient acropolis of Mtskheta-Bagineti to visit ancient ruins of royal baths, pagan temples and sarcophagi.
