Take a guided tour of the historical pioneer village in Herberton, followed by an old-fashioned coutry prepared lunch.

After lunch, its time to board the Steam Engine railway for a great tour of yesteryear's sights and sounds of the 1800s.

Then follow the highway through the scenic Crater Valley and Herberton Ranges to Mt Hypipamee. Discover hidden truths of the rich Indigenous heritage in the area, and the historical timber, railway, mining, war and dairy industries of the early pioneers.

Enjoy chatting about the memories of your chioldhood as you wind your way gently down through the steaming rainforests of the scenic Gillies or Kuranda ranges towards Cairns.

What You Can Expect:

Rain, hail, or shine, you depart from Cairns at 8 am, stopping to admire the view from the Kuranda Lookout at the heights of the temperate rainforest. The lookout contains spectacular views of the Great Barrier Reef National Park and Cairns city to the Northern Beaches.

Visit the famous, world-renowned Barron Falls, a spectacle on any day in itself, even if the falls are not in flood.

Are you hungry? Maybe a Devonshire morning tea included at the renowned Lake Barrine crater lake Cafe.

Visit the Rocky Creek War Memorial Park and learn the important parts the Atherton Tablelands played in WWII.

The highlight of the day - Is a 3 hr visit to the Historical Pioneer Village in Herberton. Set on 16 acres, the Historic Village Herberton is a tin mining town with yesterdays shops, pub, bank, chemist, grocer, printer and garage. There are more than 50 restored period buildings making this outdoor museum the most significant award winning exhibition in Queensland.

After lunch feel free to take in some more of your favorite attractions at the village, including vintage cars, steam operated machinery, including a steamtrain ride, the old print shop, chemist, sweet shop, boot maker, school, blacksmith, and so much more...

We then visit the Herberton Mining Museum to discover how the town became famous for its large tin deposits. You can also try your luck at tin mining.

Finally along the way back to Cairns discover the hidden truths of the rich Indigenous heritage, and learn about the historical timber, railway, mining, war and dairy industries of the early pioneers as you wind your way gently down through the steaming rainforests towards Cairns, arriving back in Cairns at approximately 5:30 pm.
