Big 5 Safari
Pick up from accommodation at around 6 AM for the approximately 2hour drive to the rural town of Touws River where the Wildlife Reserve is situated.
We drive along the N1 highway past some of the historic towns of the Cape Peninsula i.e. Stellenbosch & Paarl and can view the "Taal Monument" from the highway.
Instead of driving through the boring 4km long Huguenot Tunnel, we cross over the Hottentots-Holland Mountain Range on the east side of the Cape Peninsula. We stop to admire the views from the majestic Du Toit's Kloof Pass with Table Mountain one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World in the backdrop.
We view The Cape Fold Mountain Range is an awesome site to be admired. We overlook the town of Paarl with its towering monolith Paarl Rock which was discovered by the Dutch pioneer searching for fresh meat supplies Abraham Gabema in 1657.
Our journey continues through this majestic mountain range towering above the pass. Pictures can be taken before we proceed through the historic town of Worcester on to Touws River.
On arrival at the reserve, welcome drinks are had by all and buffet breakfast is served after a brief orientation.
After breakfast, we board 4 x 4 safari trucks to begin the 3-hour safari to view the wildlife. Return in time for a buffet lunch (optional) before departure for Cape Town or if you wish we could cool off in the swimming pool before departing.
Along the way, we stop for grapes or other produce that's available depending on the season.
We return via the Huguenot Tunnel back to your hotel.
