Three Day Private Road Journey | Auckjland to Auckland

Duration 9-10 hours

Country touring - Brookby - Clevedon joining the Pohutukawa Coast Drive to Kaiaua | Crossing over the Hauraki Plains to the historic township of Waihi. Here, we collect our bikes and cycle 23km (2-2.5hrs) on an easy, well-formed cycle track through the Karangahake Gorge to the township of Paeroa. We then drive through the foothills of the Coromandel Peninsula to the township of Thames.

Enjoy lunch in the Thames and stroll the main street. We now drive a section of the stunningly beautiful twisting coast road between Thames and Coromandel to the Manaia Road Saddle Lookout. We turn around and drive back the same route to Kopu, across to Turua where we join SH2, heading west to join up with SH1 north to the city centre eventually.

Day 2 | Auckland - Waitomo - Taupo

Rugged West Coast - Glow Worms - Lake Taupo - Geo-Thermal Park | Canopy Experience

Overnight: Taupo

Departing Auckland, one hour from the city on the rugged west coast, is the unique black sand beach of Kairoitahi. Subject to weather and tide conditions, it is possible to drive a portion of the beach.

After departing the beach, we wind our way south and make our way to Spellbound Glow Worm caves in the Waitomo area. This unique experience in the caves takes around 2hrs 45 (apx)

The drive across the country to our overnight destination, Lake Taupo, will take us around 2hrs.

Day 3 | Taupo - Rotorua - Auckland |

Huka Falls | Geo-Thermal Park | Canopy Experience

Duration 9-10 hours

A real mixture of a day starting with a visit to Huka Falls, followed by a stroll through the most active geothermal park, Orakei Korako (1.5hrs) |. From here, we head to Rotorua for your next eco-experience with Rotorua Canopy Tours - voted as the best eco-tour canopy adventure in the world by TripAdvisor.

You will go on a journey through prehistoric native forests. Explore the canopy as you fly on a network of ziplines, swing bridges, cliff walks, and tree-top platforms | 400m tandem zipline | 50m high cliff walkway | 3 suspended swing bridges | 18m controlled descent | knowledgeable guides | tour duration 3.5hrs.

Upon completion, we had to go back to Auckland—a 3-hour journey.
