Everest Base camp trek is the most popular and mainstream trekking destination in Nepal which takes trekkers to the bottom of the world highest Pinnacle Mount Everest (8,848 meters/29,028 ft). The trekking route lies in the Solu-Khumbu region, whereas Solu is called for the lower region, khumbu means upper region. The specific area falls under the Sagarmatha Conservation Area and is located in the Northeast part of Nepal.

The region boasts the world's highest crest, snow-capped mountains (Mt Lhotse 8,516 meters, Mt Nuptse 7,861 meters, Mt Thamserku 6,608 meters, Mt Ama Dablam 6,812 meters) Khumbu glaciers, rare species like snow leopard, musk deer and red panda and is flaunted with the authentic Sherpa Culture. The trek starts from one of the world's daunting airports at Lukla (Tenzing Hillary Airport) which is elevated at 2,860 meters above sea level. The trails follow one of the famous rivers of Nepal known as Dudhkoshi. Unlike any other trekking trails of Nepal, almost 35,000 trekkers flew from Kathmandu to Lukla then to Everest Base Camp including Gokyo lake and Gokyo Ri. The trek not only takes you to the foothill by following the steps of Tenzing Norgay sherpa & Sir Edmund Hillary but also brings close to the Sherpa Culture of the Everest Region. However, the trail during the main season is filled with trekkers and mountaineers, trekkers ascending and descending from the top. You will be amazed how the porter carries almost 60-100 kilograms of load on those high elevation.

The trek is exceptional while it will serve as a treat and reward for photographers and nature lovers when you can get astonishing views inside your viewfinder. The trek provides trekkers with an abundance of experience, walking from the shore to the rocky and steep path. You will frequently encounter livestock (Zopkyo) used as a transport in this region. Whereas Namche (3,443 meters) is the only spot where you can use your ATM card to withdraw the money and it is the only place famed as a city without vehicles. The green valley Khumjung and the oldest Monastery in Tengboche will make you realise how we are still connected to the Mother Earth.

Everest Base Camp trek holds a remarkable place in most of our checklist, embarking on this lifetime experience might be challenging but after accomplishing this trek you will never feel the same that you used to feel.
