The city of Qatif is considered the oldest existing city in the eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and archaeological and historical sites can be visited. There are also many farms, craftsmen and visual artists. There is also the sea, sailors, the historic Tarout Island, and the historic Darien Island and Port. Qatif has the largest modern fish market in the region.
