Wadi Shab

Wadi Shab is a stunning canyon oasis located about 1.5 hours southeast of Muscat. Known for its turquoise pools, waterfalls, and dramatic cliffs, Wadi Shab is ideal for a day trip of hiking, swimming, and exploring. To reach the main pools, visitors hike for about 45 minutes, crossing lush, green areas shaded by date palms, which is rare in Oman’s desert landscape. At the end of the trail, a series of crystal-clear pools invites visitors to swim and even explore a hidden cave with a waterfall inside, accessible only by swimming through a narrow passage.

Bimmah Sinkhole

Just a short drive from Wadi Shab, the Bimmah Sinkhole (also called Hawiyat Najm Park) is a natural limestone crater filled with bright turquoise water, believed to have formed by limestone erosion or a collapsing cave. The sinkhole, located close to the coast, is about 50 meters wide and 20 meters deep, with stairways for easy access to the water. It’s popular for swimming, picnics, and photography, and the mix of clear water and unusual geological structure creates a striking scene.
