Full-Day Cultural & Scenic Adventure to Ninh Binh: Hoa Lu, Tam Coc, Bich Dong, Mua Cave
8:30 AM – Hotel Pick-Up in Hanoi
Your journey begins as our guide and driver pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi. We’ll set off on a scenic 2-hour drive (approximately 100 km) to Ninh Binh Province, known as “Halong Bay on land” for its dramatic limestone karst landscapes.
10:30 AM – Explore Hoa Lu Ancient Capital
Upon arrival, we visit the historic site of Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam during the Dinh and Le dynasties (968–1009). Walk among the tranquil grounds and admire the Dinh and Le temples, nestled among lush mountains — a perfect introduction to the country’s early feudal history.
11:30 AM – Visit Bich Dong Pagoda
We continue to the Bich Dong Pagoda, a hidden gem tucked into the limestone cliffs and surrounded by rice paddies. You’ll climb a short path to explore a series of centuries-old temples built into the cave system, offering both spiritual insight and stunning views.
12:30 PM – Tam Coc Boat Ride on the Ngo Dong River
Next, we head to Tam Coc, where you’ll board a traditional sampan rowboat steered by local villagers using their feet! Drift along the peaceful Ngo Dong River, passing beneath limestone caves and between towering karst formations — the same majestic setting featured in the 2018 film Kong: Skull Island.
1:45 PM – Lunch at a Local Restaurant
Disembark and enjoy a delicious Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant, surrounded by the serene countryside. (Lunch is included in the tour.)
2:30 PM – Biking to Thung Nang “Sun Valley”
After lunch, we hop on bicycles for an immersive ride through the countryside. Pedal off-road through quiet paths and trails to reach Thung Nang, or “Sun Valley” — a peaceful and less-traveled area surrounded by lotus ponds, rice fields, and dramatic cliffs. Continue cycling to Ninh Van Village (upon your wishes), famed for its traditional stone carving. Watch local artisans skillfully transform limestone blocks into intricate sculptures. If time allows, we’ll also visit a unique century-old stone villa, offering a glimpse into local heritage.
4:00 PM – Optional Visit to Mua Cave (Time Permitting)
If time permits, we’ll make a final stop at Mua Cave (Hang Múa). Climb nearly 500 steps to the top for one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Tam Coc, the winding Ngo Dong River, and the lush countryside — a true highlight of the day.
4:45 PM Return to Hanoi
After a fulfilling day of history, nature, and culture, we drive back to Hanoi. You’ll arrive at your hotel in the early evening with beautiful memories of your adventure in Ninh Bình.
