Day 1 – Flight to Lalibela & Explore the First Group of Rock-Hewn Churches

Fly from Addis Ababa to Lalibela (about 1-hour flight). Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and start exploring the remarkable first group of rock-hewn churches, including Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, and Bet Golgotha. Learn about the incredible craftsmanship and spiritual significance of these 12th-century masterpieces. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Ethiopian dinner and a coffee ceremony with locals.

Day 2 – Trek to Asheten Mariam Monastery & Visit the Second Group of Churches

After breakfast, begin a guided trek to Asheten Mariam Monastery, perched high above Lalibela (approx. 4 hours round trip). Enjoy sweeping views of the town and surrounding mountains while visiting the monastery, carved from solid rock and still home to monks and religious artifacts. Return to Lalibela for lunch, then explore the second group of churches, including the famous Bet Giyorgis (St. George’s Church), carved in the shape of a cross.

Day 3 – Local Market Visit & Flight Back to Addis Ababa

After breakfast, visit Lalibela’s colorful local market (if it coincides with market day) to experience daily life and interact with friendly locals. Later, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, connect with your international departure or continue your onward journey.
