Itinerary

Week 1: Getting Started

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

Welcome to Nepal! A local person will meet you at the airport. They will drive you to your home, which is either with a local family or in a house with other volunteers. Take the rest of the day to get settled and rest.

Day 2: Learn and Explore

Your day begins with a full guide to Nepal. The local staff will teach you key things. This includes a look at Nepali life, basic language phrases, and safety rules. You will also get a full plan for your work at the hospital. In the afternoon, you will take a tour of places nearby like the Swayambhunath Stupa, also called the Monkey Temple.

Day 3: First Day at the Hospital

Someone will take you to the hospital or health post where you will be working. You will meet the local medical team who will teach you. Your first job will be to watch. This helps you understand how the hospital works. You will see what common health issues people have and how doctors talk to patients.

Days 4-6: Start Working

The things you do will grow based on your skills and what the hospital needs. You might be a part of:

Following doctors on their rounds.

Watching how things are done in the outpatient part of the hospital.

Helping with basic jobs like checking blood pressure, temperature, and weight.

Assisting in the pharmacy or with patient files.

Joining events that teach the public about health.

Days 7-8: Weekend Fun

Your weekend is all yours to have an adventure! You can check out the old Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. These are all on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Or, you can take a short walk to Nagarkot for a great view of the sun coming up over the mountains.

Week 2: Deeper Help and Goodbye

Days 9-12: Keep Helping

You will now know the hospital well. This means you can take on more jobs. This week is about giving more help and making stronger ties with the staff and patients. You might help in different parts of the hospital or with health projects. This is your chance to ask questions and learn from skilled Nepali health workers. You can see the good and bad parts of a health system that puts the community first.

Day 13: Final Day and Farewell

This is your last day at the hospital. It is a time to talk about your time there. You will say goodbye to the patients and staff you worked with. You will also get to hear what people thought of your work. In the evening, you will have a special farewell dinner with your host family or the other volunteers.

Day 14: Head Home

It is time to go back home. You will have a lot of good memories and new skills.
