My husband and I took a trip together for the first time to Egypt. We had a wonderful time with Ahmed as our guide. We were able to personalize our experience; his knowledge and expertise shown through to accommodate our requests. We felt safe and looked after as we navigated the streets of Cairo and traveling to and from sites. He was professional at all times but treated us like friends as we explored the city! Our recent family trip to Cairo was the experience of a lifetime with great thanks to our guide Ahmed Hassan Othman.

It was a pleasure to tour with someone so knowledgeable, charismatic and congenial. In superb English, Ahmed explained about the history and culture of Cairo and the ancient civilization of Egypt with a real desire for us to learn and retain information. It was just as interesting to listen to him speak about Saqqara as it was to hear about the statues in the Egyptian Museum. Boy, did we learn; and how we remember! The four of us (including our college-age daughters) loved when Ahmed would casually quiz us about points of history, art and architecture he had shared with us earlier. A high-five for anyone with the correct answer. Truthfully, we never wanted to disappoint him, and it was a fun way for our family to stay engaged.

Our tour was a personal one as well. My husband’s family left Cairo when he was very young so returning to the city of his birth was a dream-come-true. Ahmed did not disappoint in assisting my husband’s search for family landmarks. He located old apartment buildings on re-named streets where parents and even his great-grandmother lived. Cemeteries and synagogues closed for renovation briefly opened to allow us entry. We’re certain that only Ahmed could have helped us realize the goal of re-visiting such special places. By doing so, he helped cement this trip as our most memorable ever.

Ahmed went beyond to ensure that our visit to Cairo was all that we wanted even if it included requests to sample traditional Egyptian food. Whether taking us for koshary and showing us how the Cairenes prepare it or falafel or sahlab, Ahmed let us know that whatever our request, he’d happily do his best to fulfill it.
