YOUR EXPERIENCE

Once we pass through the entrance, we will begin a fascinating journey through the ancient Roman city of Herculaneum. The route will take us along the ancient beach, where the vaults that sheltered the fleeing inhabitants are located, and then up to the Terrace of Nonio Balbo, which once offered a privileged view of the city and the sea. We will continue by visiting some of the most important domus, including the House of the Relief of Telephus, the House of the Deer, the House of the Bicentenary, the House of the Black Salon, the House of Neptune and Amphitrite, the House of the Wooden Partition, the House of the Skeleton, and the House of the Inn—extraordinary testimonies to daily life and luxury in Roman times.

The itinerary also includes public buildings and workplaces such as the Palaestra, the Central Baths, the Shrine of the Augustales, the plumbarius’ workshop, the bottega ad cucumas, and an ancient thermopolium, offering a complete picture of the city’s social, religious, and commercial activities.

After admiring the main points of interest, the visit will continue to the Antiquarium and the Boat Pavilion, which house a valuable selection of artifacts found in Herculaneum, allowing us to gain an even deeper understanding of the history, culture, and dramatic end of this extraordinary Roman city.
