Chobe Full Day Trip
1. Departure from Victoria Falls
The day starts with an early morning pickup from your hotel or lodge in Victoria Falls.
You'll travel to the Kazungula Border, where you'll cross into Botswana. This process can take about 30 minutes to an hour depending on border traffic and paperwork. Ensure you have the necessary documents for the border crossing.
2. Chobe River Safari
Once you arrive at Chobe National Park, the first part of the safari is often a boat cruise along the Chobe River. This is a fantastic way to see animals from the water, especially large herds of elephants, buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles.
The boat cruise gives you a unique perspective as animals come down to the river to drink, bathe, or cool off. Birdwatching opportunities are also excellent here.
3. Lunch
After the boat safari, you'll typically head to a lodge or camp for a delicious lunch. Many lodges in the Chobe area offer buffet-style meals or set menus, often with views of the river or surrounding bush.
You may have a chance to relax and enjoy the landscape before the afternoon game drive.
4. Game Drive in Chobe National Park
After lunch, you’ll embark on a game drive inside the park. Chobe is renowned for its large elephant herds, and it's also home to lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and a variety of antelope species.
The game drive will take you deeper into the park, where the terrain changes and you get to see more diverse wildlife. The guides are typically experienced and will share their knowledge about the animals, plants, and ecosystem.
5. Return to Victoria Falls
After your afternoon safari, you will make your way back to the Kazungula Border to cross back into Zimbabwe.
The return trip typically takes about 2 hours, depending on the border crossing and the time of day.
