Tour of the Moscow Metro
The Moscow Metro is a unique underground transport system, first of all, from the point of view of its artistic design.
They started building the Moscow Metro in 1935. And it has been a non-stop process since that time. And though the Moscow Metro is not the world's largest, it is definitely the most beautiful. In Soviet time the best architects and designers were attracted in order to create the palatial stations adorned with crystal chandeliers, sculptures, mosaics, marble and other valuable materials. Some of these stations won first prizes at world's fairs. The luxurious decor was supposed to inspire Soviet people with pride in their homeland and lifestyle.
Nowadays the long-standing tradition of non-trivial and attractive design of the metro stations is being followed too.
