Excursion to Abu Simbel
On this excursion we'll visit the astonishing temples of Abu Simbel, the only monuments in Egypt that can hold a candle to the grandiosity of the three pyramids of Giza.
Excursion to Abu Simbel
The tour leaves from Aswan in the middle of the night, around 4 am. We'll pick you up at your hotel or the boat where you're staying. It's worth the early morning to arrive at the temples first thing in the morning and to avoid the suffocating heat of the midday sun. And an added bonus is that on the way you can enjoy the unique experience of sunrise in the desert.
After 3 hours we'll arrive at Abu Simbel, the famous complex made up of two temples excavated in the rock, one dedicated to Ramses II and the other to Nefertari, his favourite wife. The complex took 20 years to build, and was made under the stewardship of Ramses II. Today they are fantastically preserved, being buried beneath the sand until the 19th century and thus protected from the elements.
Our guided tour will take around 2 hours, enough time to discover every corner of both temples and learn all of their stories and anecdotes - such as how they came to be moved, and what Egypt did in return for international help in doing so.
Having enjoyed our time in this jewel of Egypt we'll return to Aswan, arriving a little after midday.

A piece of advice
As the tour leaves very early, we recommend that you ask your hotel to provide you with breakfast to go the night before, which you can then eat as a picnic.

Itinéraire
Nous partirons d’Assouan à la fin de la nuit, aux alentours de 4h du matin. Nous passerons vous chercher à l'hôtel ou au bateau où vous serez logés. Nous partirons très tôt pour arriver aux temples à la première heure et éviter la suffocante chaleur du jour. En chemin, vous pourrez profiter du lever de soleil dans le désert, une expérience véritablement unique.
Après un trajet de 3 heures, vous arriverez à Abou Simbel, un fameux site archéologique composé de deux temples creusés dans la roche, un dédié à Ramsès II et l’autre à Néfertiti, sa première épouse et sa préférée. La construction a nécessité plus de 20 ans de travaux, sous le règne de Ramsès II. L’état de conservation des temples est excellent car ils sont restés enterrés dans le sable jusqu’au XIXème siècle.
La visite guidée durera 2 heures, un temps suffisant pour découvrir tous les recoins des temples, leur histoire et des anecdotes sur eux, comme pourquoi ils sont encore dans un état parfait, comment ils ont été déménagés et ce qu’a fait l’Égypte en échange de l’aide internationale.
Après avoir profité de ces joyaux, vous serez de retour à Assouan, où vous arriverez un peu après la mi-journée.

La visite se fera à l'extérieur du temple. Une fois terminée, les visiteurs auront du temps libre pour visiter son intérieur.
Un conseil
Comme la visite commence très tôt, nous vous recommandons de vous préparer un pique-nique en guise de petit déjeuner la veille, là où vous serez logés.

Itinerario
El tour parte de Asuán a la hora indicada. Pasaremos a recogeros por el hotel o el barco donde estéis alojados desde bien pronto para llegar a los templos a primera hora y evitar el sofocante calor del medio día. Por el camino podréis disfrutar de algo único, como es el amanecer en el desierto.
Después de unas 3 horas de trayecto llegaremos a Abu Simbel, el famosísimo complejo compuesto por dos templos excavados en la roca, uno dedicado a Ramsés II y otro a Nefertari, su primera esposa y su predilecta. La construcción tardó unos 20 años en construirse y se hizo bajo el reinado de Ramsés II. El estado de conservación de los templos es excelente, ya que estuvieron enterrados bajo la arena hasta el siglo XIX.
Nuestra visita guiada tendrá una duración de 2 horas, tiempo suficiente para descubrir cada rincón de ambos templos y conocer todas sus historias y anécdotas, como por qué están conservados en estado impecable, cómo se movieron de lugar, y qué hizo Egipto a cambio de la ayuda internacional.
Después de disfrutar de esta joya regresaremos a Asuán, llegando tras unas nueve horas de actividad aproximadamente.
