Amsterdam Flower Auction
All year round there is an every weekday (except holidays) flower auction in Aalsmeer, 15 minutes from Amsterdam. The largest marketplace for flowers and plants in the world. 43 million flowers and 5 million plants sold every day!
The site is bigger than Vatican city and as large as Monaco!
You have to get up early to witness the auction itself, but it is more than worth it.
The auction starts at 7:00am, so to see the traders buying by the clock, we would have to arrive not much later than 8:00am! You can follow the entire auction process from a special gallery.
If 8am is a too early for you, we can arrive after the auction itself. You will still be amazed by the enormous amount of beautiful flowers that are transported to and from all the different locations in the huge hall of 200 acres!
We could easily combine this tour with other visits. For instance, to the Historical Garden in Aalsmeer, a medieval castle, some working windmills and/or quaint villages around Amsterdam.
Just let me know what you would like to see, and I will make a customized tour for you.
I own a rather old, but luxurious, comfortable Volvo V70 with A/C. Big enough for three guests, maybe four, If your group doesn't fit in my car I will rent a passenger van. Extra costs will be 275 euros. In that case, the maximum group-size is 8 people.
