Everest South Expedition is the perfect way to scale an eight-thousander. Mt.Everest’s south summit, standing tall at 8,749 m (8.749 km), is the subsidiary peak to the tallest peak in the world. It is part of the Mahalangur Himal and extends across the Nepalese and Chinese border.

The name “Everest” was kept after Sir George Everest. He was an English surveyor responsible for measuring Everest’s height. However, this mountain has its local name on both sides of the border. It is famous as “Sagarmatha” in Nepal and “Qomolangma” in China.

The term “Everest South Expedition” refers to the ascent of Mount Everest from its southern, Nepali, side. The usual route ascends along the southeast ridge from the base camp at an elevation of 5,364 meters to the summit at an elevation of 8,848 meters. Moreover, the climb is famous for its difficult terrain, high elevation, and severe weather. That is why, technical climbing expertise, a high level of physical fitness, and the right acclimatization are essential.

The south summit is a dome-shaped peak. It joins the main or the primary peak through the Hilary Step and Cornice Traverse. The climb provides a heartwarming experience to its climbers. It is an escape from the day-to-day hustle for those who want to have some adventure in their life. The summit welcomes its climbers with a majestic giant structure of snow and ice. The view is equally enchanting as it is exciting.

Reaching the south summit is still one of the achievements among the mountaineers. Every year, plenty of mountaineers come prepared to win against the harsh condition of Mt.Everest. However, planning, preparation, and a group of skilled climbers and Sherpas are necessary for a successful ascent of Everest South.
