Join me on Elephant Trail 6.0, a thrilling 6 km trek that takes approximately 3 hours, immersing you in the untouched beauty of Cherambadi’s landscapes. Starting at 7 AM, this guided journey unfolds through dense rainforests, rolling tea plantations, and historic sites, offering breathtaking views and incredible wildlife encounters.
The trail begins at Choladi Riverside, where the gentle murmur of the flowing water sets the tone for an invigorating trek. As we ascend towards Chaliyar View Point, a panoramic expanse of the Western Ghats unfolds before us. The path then leads us through the Deccan Plateau, a unique geographical marvel that showcases the region’s distinct terrain.
We’ll make a stop at Choladi Waterfall, a hidden gem nestled within the rainforest, where the cool mist refreshes weary trekkers. Further along, we explore the Historic Hydram site, a testament to the region’s engineering heritage that once powered tea plantations using the force of water.
The Rainforest Trek offers a deeper connection with Cherambadi’s rich biodiversity, with towering trees, vibrant orchids, and a symphony of bird calls surrounding us. This stretch is also home to the rare Nilgiris Langur, an elusive primate found only in these forests. Beyond, keen birdwatchers can spot endemic species fluttering through the lush canopy.
Winding through tea plantations, the final leg of our trek showcases the heart of Cherambadi’s tea culture, offering stunning landscapes and a chance to witness the region’s age-old tea cultivation practices.
