Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Bardiya, See the Village, and Watch the Sunset

Your trip starts when you get there. You might land in Nepalgunj and feel the warm Terai air. Or you might get off a long bus ride. You will go to your lodge near the park.

Afternoon (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM):

After you check in and have a welcome drink, you will go on a Tharu village tour. This is more than just a walk. It is a look into a special way of life. You will see their old longhouses. They build them from earth, clay, and straw. Your guide will tell you about their strong link to the land. They will also talk about how they farm in a good way. You can also visit the Tharu Cultural Museum. There, you will see old items, clothes, and tools that show their life.

Evening (5:00 PM onwards):

As the day gets cooler, you will go to a nice spot by the Karnali River. Watching the sun go down, painting the sky orange and purple, is a magic moment. Back at the lodge, the evening becomes lively. You will see a Tharu cultural show. Often, it has the famous stick dance (Deuda) and old songs. These songs tell stories of the jungle.

Day 2: Full-Day Jeep Safari – Deep into Tiger Land

Today is for seeing the main part of Bardiya National Park. A full-day jeep safari is your best chance to go far and see the park's famous animals.

Morning (6:00 AM - 11:00 AM):

Starting early is key. As fog hangs over the grasslands, you will go into the park. The morning air is full of bird calls. You will hear deer and monkeys moving. Your guide is good at finding animals. They will look at the dusty paths for fresh paw prints. They will listen for deer alarm calls. They will follow clues to find the park's hunters.

Mid-day (11:00 AM - 2:00 PM):

You will drive through different areas. From the thick shade of the Sal forest to the wide-open phanta grasslands. Rhinos often eat grass here. The jeep will stop at high watchtowers. These are set up near water holes. Here, you need to be patient. You will wait quietly. You will look at the land for any movement. A tasty packed lunch will be served at a safe spot inside the park.

Afternoon (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM):

The safari keeps going. Often, you will head towards the Karnali riverbed. Many animals come here. They drink in the afternoon heat. This is a top spot to see tigers. You might see wild elephants bathing. You can also see marsh mugger crocodiles resting on the sand. The day ends as you drive back to the park gate. You will be tired and dusty. But you will feel happy from what you saw.

Day 3: Jungle Walk, River Boat Ride, and Leave

Feel the jungle more closely on your last day. Your senses will work in a way a jeep cannot offer.

Morning (7:00 AM - 10:00 AM):

A guided jungle walk is exciting and makes you feel small. At least two guides will go with you for safety. You will walk into the buffer zone or community forest. Every sound is louder. You will learn to tell different animal tracks apart. You will listen to bird calls. You will enjoy the smaller wonders of nature.

Late Morning (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM):

For a calmer trip, choose a boat ride on the Karnali River. You will move quietly in a traditional boat. This gives you a special, low view. It is the best way to get close to the Gharial crocodile. It has a long, thin nose. You will also see many water birds. These include kingfishers, herons, and storks. Look closely for the rare Gangetic dolphin.

Afternoon (12:00 PM onwards):

You will go back to the lodge for a last lunch. Then, full of jungle memories, you will go back to Nepalgunj Airport for your flight. Or you will start your road trip back to Kathmandu or Pokhara.
