Trip Plan

Week 1: Arrive, Learn, and Join the Community

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

When your plane lands at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM), someone will be waiting for you. They will greet you in the Nepali way. Then, you will go to your hotel in Thamel. Thamel is a busy area with many shops, cafes, and places to buy hiking gear. After you get settled, you can rest. Or, you can take a short walk to feel the energy of the place. In the evening, you will have a welcome dinner. You will eat real Nepali food like Dal Bhat (lentil soup with rice) and momos (dumplings). Here, you will get a full talk about the exciting trip ahead.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sights and Culture

Today, you will learn about Kathmandu's rich culture and spiritual side. Your first stop is Swayambhunath. People also call it the "Monkey Temple." It sits on a hill and gives you wide views of the whole valley. You will see monkeys running around the old stupa. Prayer flags will wave in the wind. After this, you will visit Boudhanath Stupa. This is one of the biggest and most holy Buddhist sites in the world. You can walk around the stupa with other visitors, spinning prayer wheels as you go. This day helps you understand the old ways and beliefs that shape life in Nepal.

Day 3: Travel to the Village and Meet Your Host Family

After an early breakfast, you will leave the city. You will take a beautiful drive to your host village. This drive takes about 4 to 6 hours. The trip itself is an adventure. You will go on winding roads, past green rice fields, and next to loud river valleys. When you get to the village, your host family will give you a warm welcome. They will show you your room. They will help you get settled into what will be your home for the next ten days. They will offer you a cup of sweet Nepali tea.

Day 4: Project Talk and First Day with Children

Your day starts with a visit to the local school or community center. Here, you will meet the head teacher and other staff. They will give you a detailed talk about the ongoing projects to help children in rural Nepal. The talk will cover how to act in the culture, safety rules, and what your volunteer work aims to do. In the afternoon, it is time to meet the children! You will spend the first hours getting to know them. You will play fun games, sing songs, and do simple introductions. This helps build trust and creates a happy, good feeling.

Days 5-7: Helping Out and Sharing Skills

Your days will now follow a good pattern focused on helping the local school.

Morning (10 am - 1 pm): You will go into the classroom to help local teachers. This means giving good support, not taking over. You might help small groups of students practice speaking English. You could help with basic math problems on the board. Or, you might use cards with pictures to teach new words.

Afternoon (2 pm - 4 pm): This is a time for fun and new ideas. You can set up extra activities that the school might not have things for. This could be a workshop on how to wash hands well. You might coach a game of football or volleyball. Or, you could lead an art and craft time where children can draw, paint, and show their feelings.

Week 2: Deeper Impact and Saying Goodbye

Days 8-11: More Helping and Community Projects

As you keep working at the school, your bond with the students and teachers will grow stronger. You will become a known and welcome face in the village. This week, you might also get to help with a small village project. This could mean painting a bright picture on a classroom wall to make the learning place better. You might help sort books for a new small library. Or, you could help plant a small vegetable garden for the school.

Day 12: Village Party and Goodbye

This day will be one you will always remember. The whole village will come together to have a goodbye party for you. It is a happy and moving event filled with thanks. You will see traditional Nepali music and dance shows put on by the children and people from the village. A tasty meal will be made. You will have the chance to say goodbye and trade small gifts to show thanks.

Day 13: Back to Kathmandu and Think Back

After a last breakfast with your host family, you will travel back to Kathmandu. The afternoon is yours to use as you wish. You can look around the shops in Thamel for last-minute gifts. Maybe you will buy some local crafts, soft shawls, or nice teas. In the evening, there will be a final goodbye dinner. This gives you and other travelers a chance to think about the amazing things you have done together.

Day 14: Final Trip Home

Someone will take you to the airport for your flight home. You will leave not just with gifts, but with many memories, new friends, and the deep feeling of knowing you have made a real, good difference in the lives of children.
