Explore by foot the pearls of Bucharest City Center
Be ready to discover the pearls of Bucharest, an unexpectedly beautiful city!
We meet and reach Calea Victoriei Street, one of the most interesting areas in the capital. You will observe a mix of architectural elements, new stores and hotels for tourists. First of all, The Romanian Athaeneum, the symbol of modern Romania is a cultural center of Bucharest. Then, in the Revolution Square, you will see the Royal Palace, erected by first romanian King Carol I, Central Universitary Library, the Central Commitee, the headquarter of the ex-communist party and the Monument of Rebirth.
The tour continues on Calea Victoriei with the view of the Military Circle building, Capitol and Capsa Hotels, Odeon Theatre, CEC Bank, Romanian History Museum and the statue of the roman emperor Trajan with "Lupa Capitolina", symbol of Romanian origins.
The I will guide you through the Old City Center, visiting the Stavropoleos Monastery, characterized by its unique style of architecture specific to 17th-18th century. You will hear the story of the settlement and will be able to discover some testimonies of the comunist destructions, watching a lapidarium and of course, accompanied by the beautiful voice of the nuns who are living in the middle of the city center in this monastery. Then the tour continues with the visit of St. Demeter Church and the Royal Court of Vlad the Impaler (Draculea), which hospites the ruins of Wallachia’s old Royal Palace, constructed and enlarged by Vlad the Impaler.
The tour continues with Hanul lui Manuc (Manuc’s Inn), the oldest inn from Bucharest and the last caravanserai building from Europe, that belonged to a "medieval James Bond" spy and prince.
Be ready to cross Unirii Square and to discover the megalomanic building of the Parliament, then to climb the Hill of Joy and to visit the Patriarchal Cathedral.
At the end of the tour, one can choose what to discover next: a lunch or dinner (or just a drink) in a local restaurant, buying some traditional stuff or souvenirs from a shop or just a stroll in the city.
Meeting point: In front of the Romanian Atheneum
Dopo esserci riuniti all'ora stabilita, daremo inizio alla nostra visita guidata di Bucarest alla scoperta dei suoi principali monumenti. Cominceremo contemplando l'Ateneo Rumeno, un vero e proprio simbolo culturale della città, per poi spostarci verso la Biblioteca Centrale Universitaria e al Palazzo Reale, ora sede del Museo Nazionale d'Arte della Romania.
Giungeremo così in Piazza della Rivoluzione, dove ammireremo il balcone da cui il dittatore Nicolae Ceausescu teneva i suoi discorsi pubblici, prima di continuare su Calea Victoriei, una delle strade più alla moda della capitale. Qui, infatti, si concentrano gli alberghi di lusso e le boutique internazionali più costose della città. Sapevate che è anche uno dei viali più antichi di Bucarest?
Successivamente, raggiungeremo il Palazzo del Circolo Militare e ci addentreremo nel centro storico di Bucarest. Una volta arrivati, accederemo al Monastero Stavropoleos, un vero capolavoro dell'architettura rumena in cui osserveremo i resti delle lapidi e delle chiese distrutte durante la dittatura.
In seguito, ci dirigeremo verso il Museo di Storia Nazionale e alla Chiesa di San Demetrio, una delle più antiche della città, giungendo così al Palazzo di Vlad l'Impalatore, meglio conosciuto come Dracula. Qui, la nostra guida ci racconterà molte storie sul leggendario Vlad... Ne sapete qualcuna?
La tappa successiva sarà il Ristorante Hanul lui Manuc, il più antico di Bucarest. Lo stile architettonico del suo edificio è davvero unico!
Concluderemo il tour in Piazza Unirii, dove osserveremo il Palazzo del Parlamento e ascolteremo la storia della costituzione e del regime comunista rumeno.
