Religious Tour of Orthodox Patrimony in Bucharest
The meeting point at your Hotel or in the front of Romanian Athaeneum. I will present you a part of the Orthodox Patrimony of Bucharest.
The tour starts with the visit of the Romanian Atheneum (when possible, also inside), Revolution Square and Kretzulescu Church and the we discover the beautiful small churches from the city center area: Zlatari, Stavropoleos, St. Demeter, St. Anthony Church.
The next stop will be at St. Antim Ivireanul Monastery and its synodical library, the one of the masterpieces of romanian orthodox architecture. What is special here? Besides the name Antim, a monk that printed books for Greece, Turkey, Armenia and other countries more than any other person, the synodical library inside the monastery complex was transferred some meters with all the books and even people inside in the comunism time. It had 9000 tones at that time!, but an enginner invented the method of translating the buildings for the first time in the world.
Of course that we will stop in front of the Palace of the Parliament or House of the People, as it was named in the past and you will enjoy an interesting perspective with the second largest building from the world, situated next to Antim Monastery and you will here the story about the consequences and demolitions during the construction of the giant structure.
Then we will point to the Michael the Great Church, where you will see a very beautiful paiting in neo-byzantine style and a special architecture of the church. Michael the Great is considered national hero, as he is the first ruler that unified the three romanian principalities: Wallachia, Moldavia and Transivlanya in the year 1600. You will find the rest of the story on the spot, as he survived and he built a church named Michael Voda Church, that was also moved more than 50 meters.
The tour continues with the visit of Domnita Balasa (Lady Balasa church), one of the 7th daughters of Constantin Brancoveanu, ruler that lived in the 17th-18th century. Here something unique amazes: statues in orthodox churches; of course, there is an explanation for this and you will find the rest of the story on the spot.
Then we continue to visit the Romanian Patriarchal Cathedral and the Patriarchy Hill, where the Patriarch of Romania is living. A passioned about the architecture will be impressed by the details of the carvings and the interior of the church erected in the mid part of 17th century, when all the area was covered by grapevines. This is also a good spot for panoramic pictures and a silent place to gather your powers before entering in the city murmurs. Inside the Cathedral you will find the reliques of St. Dimitrie Basarabov, patron saint of Bucharest. There are also the reliques of St. Constantine and Helen here.
You will see, according to the preferences: Radu Voda Monastery - Bucur Church - St. Anton Church - St. Demeter Church - Stavropoleos Monastery - Russian Church St. Nicholas - St. George George Church.

La prossima tappa sarà al Monastero di Sant'Antim Ivireanul e alla sua biblioteca sinodale, uno dei capolavori dell'architettura ortodossa rumena. Cosa c'è di speciale qui? Oltre al nome Antim, un monaco che più di ogni altro stampava libri per la Grecia, la Turchia, l'Armenia e altri paesi, la biblioteca sinodale all'interno del complesso monastico è stata trasferita di alcuni metri con tutti i libri e anche le persone all'interno dell'epoca del comunismo. Aveva 9000 toni a quel tempo!, ma un ingegnere ha inventato il metodo per spostare gli edifici per la prima volta al mondo.
Naturalmente ci fermeremo di fronte al Palazzo del Parlamento o Casa del Popolo, come veniva chiamato in passato e godrete di una prospettiva interessante con il secondo edificio più grande del mondo, situato accanto al Monastero di Antim e sentirete qui il racconto delle conseguenze e delle demolizioni durante la costruzione della gigantesca struttura.
Quindi indichero poi la Chiesa di Michele Magno, dove vedrai un bellissimo dipinto in stile neo-bizantino e un'architettura speciale della chiesa. Michele il Grande è considerato un eroe nazionale, poiché è il primo sovrano che ha unificato i tre principati rumeni: Valacchia, Moldavia e Transivlanya nell'anno 1600. Troverai il resto della storia sul posto, poiché è sopravvissuto e ha costruito una chiesa chiamata Michael Voda Church, anch'essa spostata di più di 50 metri.
Il tour continua con la visita di Domnita Balasa (chiesa di Lady Balasa), una delle settime figlie di Constantin Brancoveanu, sovrano vissuto nel XVII-XVIII secolo. Qui stupisce qualcosa di unico: statue nelle chiese ortodosse; naturalmente, c'è una spiegazione per questo e troverai il resto della storia sul posto.
Poi continuiamo a visitare la Cattedrale Patriarcale Rumena e la Collina del Patriarcato, dove vive il Patriarca di Romania. Un appassionato di architettura sarà colpito dai dettagli degli intagli e dall'interno della chiesa eretta nella metà del XVII secolo, quando tutta l'area era ricoperta di viti. Questo è anche un buon posto per foto panoramiche e un luogo silenzioso per raccogliere i tuoi poteri prima di entrare nel suono della città. All'interno della Cattedrale troverai le reliquie di San Dimitrie Basarabov, patrono di Bucarest. Ci sono anche le reliquie di San Costantino ed Elena.
