Aberdare National Park

Picturesque, steep forested ravines and open moorland characterise the Aberdare National Park. The park provides a habitat for elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs and bushbucks among others.

The Ark

While on our safari to aberdare we shall stay at a unique hotel called The Ark. Set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, iconic and yes, quirky. The Ark overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick, which attracts a host of awesome wildlife. Resembling and named after Noah’s Ark, The Ark comprises of three decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide a superb location for wildlife to be seen. So that you don’t miss any animal sightings, the night guard will buzz your room when special animals come to the waterhole.

Ol pejeta Conservany

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 364sq km wildlife conservancy situated between the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdares and its game-to-area ratio tops the Kenyan park and reserve league. Ol Pejeta has over 10000 large mammals and it is the only park where the big 5 and chimpanzees can be seen. It is also where the fastest growing population of rhino in Africa can be found. There are southern white rhino, about 80 endangered black rhino and in a special sanctuary there are two of the world’s last remaining northern white rhino.

Cost indicated is for per person sharing transport and accommodation on a double room. Feel free to request solo traveller and single room occupancy rates. The rates remain the same throughout the year apart from Christmas and Easter where we have supplements. Also feel free to request special rates for larger groups (4 and above).

Tour Programs

Day 1

ARRIVAL, WELCOME AND TRANSFER TO A NAIROBI HOTEL

Arrive at JKIA and be received by our office representatives who assists you in clearing, loads your luggage to a van and drives you to a city hotel booked on a bed and breakfast. Depending on time of arrival you can choose to get involved in optional activities in Nairobi such as a visit to Giraffe Center, David Sheldric orphanage Karen Blixen Museum or a guided city walk or tour with a guide. Or choose to relax in your hotel awaiting safari the following day

Day 2

NRB - ABERDARES NP

After breakfast leave for Aberdare National Park arriving at the country lodge for lunch. Relax and be transferred to the Ark Lodge where you will spend the rest of your day. Set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, iconic and yes, quirky. The Ark overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick, which attracts a host of awesome wildlife. Resembling and named after Noah’s Ark, The Ark comprises of three decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide a superb location for wildlife to be seen. So that you don’t miss any animal sightings, the night guard will buzz your room when special animals come to the waterhole. Day 3

ABERDARE - OL PEJETA

Wake up to a sumptuous breakfast and thereafter leave for Ol Pejeta Conservancy arriving at Serena Sweet Waters Camp in time for lunch. After lunch visit the Sweet Waters Chimpanzee Santuary where orphaned Chimps are given a chance to live again. Formed in 1993 as a joint alliance between The Jane Goodall Institute and Kenyan Wildlife Services this sanctuary was established as a refuge for orphaned and confiscated chimpanzees and is the only place in Kenya where non-indigenous chimpanzees can be seen. Proceed with a game drive before returning to Serena Sweet Waters Camp for Dinner and Overnight

Day 4

OL PEJETA FULL DAY

Spend the whole day exploring the vast Ol Pejeta conservancy. Day 5

OL PEJETA - NAIROBI

This day, you will wake up early for pre-breakfast game drives. Also, this is the right time to catch up with the sunrise and you can take a photo of Mount Kenya peaks (if weather permitting). You will return for breakfast and prepare to checkout with a game drive en route. You shall arrive at Nairobi in mid-afternoon and you shall be dropped at the airport or hotel.
