An 8-day trip to Morocco covering Marrakech, Imlil, the Refuge, the Toubkal Summit, Essaouira, and Ouzoud Waterfalls is an adventure-packed experience, especially for those who love nature, hiking, and stunning landscapes. Here’s a detailed itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech & Transfer to Imlil (23/05/2025)

Arrive in Marrakech and take time to explore the city if you arrive early. Enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine at a local restaurant in Marrakech. Afterward, transfer to Imlil or Armed, Berber villages located approximately 1.5 hours (64 km) from Marrakech. These villages serve as the starting point for most treks to Toubkal. Settle into a guesthouse in Imlil or Armed, where you can relax and take in the peaceful mountain views.

Day 2: Imlil to Toubkal Refuge (24/05/2025)

Begin your day with breakfast before setting out on the trek to Toubkal Refuge. The hike, spanning approximately 5–7 hours (11 km), follows a trail that ascends through the Mizane Valley, passing the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch—a sacred pilgrimage site. Stop for a picnic lunch either en route or at Sidi Chamharouch. Afterward, continue ascending to Toubkal Refuge, situated at an elevation of 3,207 meters, which serves as the base camp for summiting Mount Toubkal. Upon arrival, rest at the refuge while soaking in the breathtaking mountain scenery and preparing for the summit push scheduled for the following day.

Day 3: Summit Mount Toubkal & Return to Imlil (25/05/2025)

Start your ascent to Toubkal Summit (4,167 meters) just before dawn. The hike, lasting 3–4 hours, requires moderate fitness, with a steep and rocky final stretch. Upon reaching the summit, savor panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains, valleys, and the distant Sahara Desert. Take photos and rest to soak in the achievement. Descend back to the refuge over 2–3 hours, then enjoy a picnic lunch there before continuing the trek back to Imlil. Finally, descend to Imlil or Armed (a 4-hour journey), arriving by late afternoon to conclude the day’s adventure.

Day 5 : Marrakech To Essaouira (27/05/2025)

We depart from Marrakech at 8 am heading towards Essaouira, where we will arrive in approximately 3 hours, but not before an intriguing visit to an association of women making Argan oil. Upon our arrival, we will make a comprehensive visit by City Guide to this charming port of Mogador so that you may take in the ochre-coloured walls, small blue fishing boats, the beautiful square Moulay El Hassan, the souks, and of course the old Medina. There is a range of restaurants from which you may choose to dine on locally caught fresh fish. Later in the afternoon, we head back to Marrakech to arrive at The Red City.

Day 6: Marrakech Sightseeing (28/05/2025)

Marrakesh has always been something of a pleasure, a marketplace where the southern tribesmen and Berber villagers bring their goods, spend their money, and find entertainment. For visitors, it's an enduring fantasy – a city of immense beauty, low, red and tent-like before a great shaft of mountains immediately exciting by City Guide.

Monuments and Palaces: See the famous Koutoubia Tower (11th century) and the Bahia Palace (19th century).

Djemaa el Fna square: No more than an open space in the centre of the city, but the stage for a long-established ritual in which shifting circles of onlookers gather round groups of acrobats, drummers, pipe musicians, dancers, storytellers, comedians, and fairground acts…

Souks: Visit many Souks and Medinas of Marrakech, to see the locals selling everything from fresh vegetables and spices to leather and jewelry.

Day 7: Marrakech To Ouzoud Waterfalls (29/05/2025)

We depart from Marrakech early in the morning, exploring the traditional towns and vistas en route to Ouzoud.

The journey takes about three hours with a comfort stop along the way. You arrive in Ouzoud to see the spectacular cascades, the traditional Berber house, and the wild monkeys that roam freely. You can enjoy a traditional meal at a local restaurant, soaking up the peace and tranquility of this special place before it is time to commence the journey back towards Marrakech. You will arrive back at your Riad in the Red City.
