Trip Overview

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a short yet rewarding adventure in the Annapurna region, perfect for trekkers of all levels. This trek offers stunning Himalayan panoramas, diverse landscapes, and an enriching cultural experience with the warm hospitality of the Gurung and Magar communities. The highlight of the journey is the breathtaking sunrise from Poon Hill, where the first golden rays of the sun illuminate the majestic Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

Starting from the beautiful lake city of Pokhara, the trek follows a scenic route through picturesque villages, lush rhododendron forests, and open fields. The journey typically begins at Nayapul, crossing the Modi Khola and trekking towards Tikhedhunga. From there, the trail ascends through rhododendron-clad hills to reach the charming village of Ghorepani.

An early morning ascent to Poon Hill rewards trekkers with one of the most spectacular sunrise views in Nepal. The sight of the sun casting its golden hues over snow-capped peaks is truly unforgettable. After enjoying this magical moment, the trek continues towards Ghandruk, a traditional Gurung village renowned for its rich culture and heritage. A visit to the local Gurung museum offers deeper insights into the history and traditions of the region.

The final leg of the trek involves a descent to Nayapul, followed by a drive back to Pokhara. With its moderate difficulty level and well-established trails, this trek is ideal for beginners and seasoned trekkers alike. The best seasons for the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek are spring (March to April) and autumn (September to December), when the weather is clear and the landscapes are at their most vibrant.
