Everest Base Camp Trek by Road – 16-Day Itinerary (Without Lukla Flight)
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m)
Pickup at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Transfer to 3-star hotel in Thamel.
Optional pre-trip briefing at Green Valley Nepal Treks office.
Day 2: Kathmandu → Thamdanda (2326m) by Jeep
Early morning departure (~5 AM).
Route: BP Highway → Ghurmi (lunch) → Salleri → Phaplu → Thamdanda.
Duration: 13–14 hours, ~300 km.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge in Thamdanda.
Day 3: Thamdanda → Phakding (2640m)
Trek: Thamdanda → Paiya → Surke → Chaurikharka → Chheplung → Phakding.
Duration: 7–8 hours, 22 km.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 4: Phakding → Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Trek through Sagarmatha National Park.
Cross multiple suspension bridges including Tenzing Hillary Bridge.
Duration: 5–6 hours, 12 km.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 5: Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar
Optional treks: Thamo, Khunde, Khumjung village.
Visit Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 6: Namche Bazaar → Tengboche (3860m)
Trek through alpine forests, Phungi Tenga, and arrive at Tengboche Monastery.
Duration: 5–6 hours, 12 km.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 7: Tengboche → Dingboche (4410m)
Pass Deboche, Pangboche, Somare → Dingboche.
Duration: 5–6 hours, 12.5 km.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 8: Acclimatization at Dingboche
Optional treks: Hill behind village, Chhukung Ri, or Nagarjuna.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 9: Dingboche → Lobuche (4910m)
Trek past Thokla, Italian Pyramid, Khumbu Glacier → Lobuche.
Duration: 5–6 hours, 7.8 km.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 10: Lobuche → Gorakshep → Everest Base Camp (5364m)
Trek across Khumbu Glacier to Gorakshep, then EBC.
Duration: 5–6 hours, 9 km.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge at Gorakshep.
Day 11: Gorakshep → Kala Patthar (5555m) → Pheriche (4240m)
Early morning ascent to Kala Patthar for sunrise views.
Descend to Gorakshep, then continue to Pheriche.
Duration: 4–5 hours, 13.5 km.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 12: Pheriche → Namche Bazaar
Long descent retracing trek route.
Duration: 7–8 hours, 12.5 km.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 13: Namche Bazaar → Chaurikharka (2694m)
Trek down along Dudhkoshi River.
Duration: 6–7 hours, 18 km.
Optional visit to Lukla airport.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 14: Chaurikharka → Thamdanda (2326m)
Trek via Surke → Paiya → Khari La → Thamdanda.
Duration: 4–5 hours, 27 km.
Celebration dinner with trekking crew.
Overnight: Tea house/lodge.
Day 15: Thamdanda → Kathmandu (1400m) by Jeep
Jeep transfer via Salleri back to Kathmandu.
Duration: 13–14 hours, ~300 km.
Overnight: 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 16: Final Departure
Transfer to airport for departure.
