Your journey begins with a scenic drive north from Budapest to Esztergom, the former capital of Hungary and one of the most important spiritual centers of the country. Here you will visit the monumental Esztergom Basilica, the largest church in Hungary, and learn about its central role in Hungarian history and Christianity. You will also have the opportunity to explore the ecclesiastical treasury and burial places, admire breathtaking panoramic views over the Danube River and Slovakia, and discover the remains of the medieval royal palace, once home to Hungary’s earliest kings.

Our next stop is Visegrád, a charming town nestled in the Danube Bend and famous for its medieval heritage. We will climb up to the hilltop citadel, originally rebuilt after the Tatar invasion, and explore the castle complex and its surroundings. Inside the exhibitions, you will gain insight into everyday life in the Middle Ages, the world of knights, royal courts, and the Hungarian Renaissance, while enjoying spectacular views over the Danube Valley.

Lunch is optional and can be arranged in Esztergom, Visegrád, or later in Szentendre, depending on your preferences.

Szentendre is a picturesque riverside town, once an artists’ colony and today a vibrant, bohemian center. During a relaxed walk through its cobblestone streets, you can explore colorful houses, charming squares, art galleries, small museums, and boutique shops, while learning about the town’s multicultural past and artistic traditions.

At the end of this memorable day, we return comfortably to your hotel / river boat / airport / railway station by private, air-conditioned vehicle.
