Morning flight from Addis Ababa to Semera. Upon arrival, meet your guide, driver, and 4x4 expedition team, then begin your adventure into the spectacular Danakil Depression.

Drive to Lake Afdera, a beautiful salt lake surrounded by dramatic desert scenery. Visit the traditional salt-mining areas where local Afar communities extract salt using centuries-old methods.

Continue driving to Dodom, the base camp for Erta Ale Volcano. In the early evening, begin the hike to Erta Ale, Ethiopia’s famous active volcano. Enjoy views of the lava lake, subject to volcanic activity.

Day 02 — Erta Ale — Hamad Ela

Early in the morning, enjoy a sunrise visit at the crater before descending back to Dodom.
