MAHAKAM RIVER AND KUTAI NATIONAL PARK

Day 01: Balikpapan – Loajanan – Mahakam River

Upon arrival at Sepinggan airport of Balikpapan meeting services and proceed directly transfer by car to Loajanan boarding on the wooden house boat, cruise upstream Mahakam river, passing riverside villages, coal mines and small timber company. Meals will be provided and overnight on the wooden houseboat.

Day 02: Muara Muntai – Mancong – Mahakam River

After breakfast, short sightseeing of the wooden villages at Muara Muntai where even the road are made from iron wood, departure by motorized canoe passing fisherman village of Jantur cross over Jempang lake to Muara Ohong village, with beautiful view on the Ohong creek with lucky perhaps you will see the wild animals such as: proboscis monkeys, king fisher, monitor lizard and herons in particular. Arrive in Mancong village the Dayak Benuaq will be performed in front of the Replica Grand Old Long House. Afterward your return journey to Muara Muntai, cruise upstream to Muara Pahu. Lunch boxes will served en-route, dinner and overnight on the wooden houseboat.

Day 03: Muara Pahu – Beloan River

After early breakfast, departure by motorized canoe cruise up Pahu river then turn to the right for Beloan creek with beautiful view and you can see wild animals such as: monkeys, birds and proboscis monkeys, afterward return to wooden house boat. Relaxing on the boat, until late afternoon with lucky perhaps sometime the fresh water dolphins will appear in this area surrounding. Early evening cruise upstream to Melak.

Meals will be provided and overnight on boat.

Day 04: Melak – Kersik Luway – Benung – Pepas Eheng – Mahakam

After breakfast, departure by car for visiting natural black orchid forest and authentic traditional long house Benung and Pepas Eheng, royal tomb traditional cemetery local handicraft from the Dayak artistic, then return to your houseboat in Melak, onward cruise downstream to Tenggarong.

Meals will be provided and overnight on the wooden houseboat.

Day 05: Tenggarong – Loajanan – Sangata

Visit the Museum Mulawarman as remain Sultan Palace and royal cemetery and return to wooden house boat cruise downstream to Loajanan.

After lunch you disembark the boat and proceed by road to Sangata then continue by motorized canoe cruise up Sangata River to the simple camp and check in. Night trekking is available; lunch will be served on the wooden houseboat, dinner and overnight at simple camp floor.

Day 06: Kutai National Park

After early breakfast, start trekking in the tropical rain forest and search the wild orang utans and you will be accompanied with ranger, at noon return to simple camp for having lunch.

Late afternoon, start trekking again you will search the wild orang utans and early evening return to simple camp. Dinner will be provided and overnight at simple camp floor.

Day 07: Camp – Sangata – Airport Balikpapan

Early breakfast, return cruise down Sangata river and continue by car to Sepinggan airport of Balikpapan for your onward flight to your next destination. Lunch will be served en-route.
