The Everest Base Camp Trek is thrilling, adventurous, fun, and most of all, it is a venture that will stay in your memory forever. This 18-day trek leads to the base of the world's highest mountain, Mt. Everest (8,848 m), where you will get to see panoramic views of the Himalayas. From here, hike up to the Kala Patthar to witness gorgeous sunrise on Everest is a spectacle not to be missed! On the way, you will get to explore the exotic Khumbu region and its hidden corners.

The Everest Base Camp Trek will let you experience the rich culture and tradition of Sherpa and other people, along with their daily lifestyle. You will visit ancient monasteries and stupas, whilst getting to know the locals here and their simple yet happy life. The trail passes through several picturesque villages, dense forests, glacial streams, cold rivers, fine valleys, moraines, and glacier paths. Marvel at the different climate zones and vegetation types you will see in one journey!

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

Land at Tribhuvan International Airport and complete your immigration process and get a visa. You will meet one of our team representatives at the terminal gate. He will take you to the hotel. Rest for a few hours, and in the evening have welcome dinner organized by the company.

Day 2: Sightseeing & preparation for the trek

We have arranged a guided sightseeing tour for you. You will visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath. Our tour guide will explain to you the sites and major events that happened there in the past. Later, in the afternoon, you will prepare for the trek including a thorough check of gear and an opportunity to do shopping if needed.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla and trek to Monjo (2,700 m)

We will fly to Lukla early in the morning. The flight will be short and offers distant views of the Himalayas. Upon landing at the airport, you meet with the porters and begin trekking. The trail descends along the Dudh Koshi river and passes by Cheplung and Phakding villages. Further, you will ascend and reach Monjo for a night stay.

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)

From Monjo, the trail passes through the Sagarmatha National Park. Trekking through dense pine and rhododendron forests, you will cross several streams over suspension bridges. You will pass by Jorsale and move along Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. The trail steeply ascends and leads you to Namche Bazar.

Day 5: Acclimatization Day 

It is your first rest day in Namche Bazar. You will explore the village and go on a hike to the nearby areas. You can hike to Everest View Hotel, from where you can see stunning views of Himalayan mountains, or you can go on a short excursion to Khumjung village, where in one of the monasteries you can see the head of the Yeti. Also, don't forget to visit the Everest Photo Gallery and Sherpa Museum of Culture.

Day 6: Trek to Tengboche (3,860 m)

The trail up to Phunki is easy. From here, you ascend towards Tengboche village through dense forests of rhododendrons. The trail will get steep at times. In Tengboche, you get to visit the oldest and biggest monastery of the Khumbu region, the Tengboche monastery. Also, superb views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and other mountains can be seen from the back of the monastery.

Day 7: Trek to Dingboche (4,410 m)

The trail descends through lush forests of conifer, birch & rhododendrons. Enjoying lovely views of the Himalayan mountains, the trail further descends to Debuche. You will then cross Imja Khola and reach Pangboche. The trail from here is scenic. You continue trekking to the Imja Valley and ascend to Dingboche, the Summer Valley of Khumbu region.

Day 8: Acclimatisation Day

It is another rest day in Dingboche. You will spend the day exploring the village and hike to a ridge located behind the village. From the ridge, you can see six of the world's highest mountains like Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, etc. You will also get to see beautiful views of Cholatse and Taboche along with a stunning view of Khumbu Khola Valley.

Day 9: Trek to Lobuche (4,910 m)

The trail ascends to Lobuche village situated at the foot of Mt. Lobuche. The trail includes pastures, lush forests, and small settlement areas. From Lobuche, you can see great views of Mt. Lingtern, Mt. Pumori, and Khumbutse.

Day 10: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,365 m) via Gorak Shep

Today, the trail will lead you to Everest Base Camp. Leaving Lobuche behind, you will head towards Gorak Shep, the last village before EBC. Back in the days, this place used to be the base camp. From Gorak Shep, the trail moves alongside Khumbu glacier moraine and takes you to the base camp. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, you will get to see Khumbu IceFall and panoramic views of Himalayas. After spending some time at the base camp, you descend to Gorak Shep for a night stay.

Day 11: Hike to Kala Patthar (5,575 m) and trek back to Gorak Shep (4,240 m)

Today, you will hike to Kala Patthar. The trail will be rocky and steep. From Kala Patthar, you get to see a glorious sunrise and 360-degree views of Mt. Everest. After spending some time at Kala Patthar, you slowly trek back to Gorak Shep.

Day 12: Trek to Pheriche (3,810 m)

After having breakfast, you continue trekking following the same trail and move towards Pheriche. The trail will be scenic.

Day 13: Trek to Namche Bazar

Retracing the same trail, you descend along the hillside and pass through lush forests of rhododendron and juniper. Crossing a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, you further descend through pine forests and reach Sansa. On the way, you get to see superb views of mountains, wildlife, and birds. Trekking through another forest, you reach Namche Bazar.

Day 14: Trek to Phakding

The trail descends through the Sagarmatha National Park. Passing through dense forests crossing and recrossing streams several times, you reach Phakding for night stay.

Day 15: Trek to Lukla

After having breakfast, you ascend through forests along the Dudh Koshi river and trek back to Lukla.

Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu

Today, an early morning flight will take you back to Kathmandu. You will get to see the last views of the Himalayas from the flight. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is leisure.

Day 17: Leisure day in Kathmandu

It is a leisure day in Kathmandu. You can either relax and do shopping or go on a sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square as per your mood. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner.

Day 18: Back to home

It is time to say goodbye to each other. One of our team delegates will drop you at the airport as per your flight departure time.
