Elephant Trail 16.0 – The Ultimate Cherambadi Trekking Experience
Join me on an exhilarating 16 km trek through the untouched wilderness of Cherambadi, starting at 7 AM for the best experience. This 7-hour journey takes you through breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and hidden historical gems.
We begin with the Choladi Riverside Trek, a serene walk along the riverbanks, followed by a climb to the Chaliyar View Point, offering panoramic views of the mighty Chaliyar River winding through the hills. Next, we traverse the Deccan Plateau, an ancient landform with stunning terrain, before reaching the Choladi Waterfall, where we take a refreshing break by its cascading waters.
Our journey continues to the Historic Hydram Site, a fascinating remnant of early water management systems, before diving deep into the Rainforest Trek, where dense foliage shelters exotic birds and rare wildlife. We explore lush Tea and Coffee Plantations, learning about the rich legacy of plantation culture in the region.
A challenging but rewarding mountain trek leads us to Pazhassi’s Cave, a historic hideout linked to Kerala’s legendary freedom fighter, Pazhassi Raja. Along the way, we may spot the elusive Nilgiri Langur and a variety of endemic birds, orchids, and rare flora unique to this landscape.
The trek concludes with a well-deserved traditional cup of tea, brewed the old-fashioned way—an authentic taste of Cherambadi’s heritage. This trail is perfect for adventure seekers, history enthusiasts, and nature lovers alike!
