3-day safari on Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater
A 3-day safari focused on Serengeti and Ngorongoro is an excellent choice for a condensed but impactful safari experience. This itinerary is very popular and allows you to spend quality time in two of Tanzania's most famous wildlife destinations.
Day 1: Journey to Serengeti National Park.
After an early breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up from your hotel.
The journey to Serengeti National Park is a full-day adventure. You'll drive through the beautiful landscapes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with opportunities to stop at viewpoints and enjoy the scenery.
You will enter the Serengeti through the Naabi Hill Gate and have your first game drive en route to your camp or lodge.
You will arrive at your accommodation in the central Serengeti (Seronera area) in time for dinner.
Overnight stay at a safari lodge or tented camp in the Serengeti.
Day 2: Full Day in the Serengeti.
This is your full day to explore the vast "endless plains" of the Serengeti.
You can choose to do a morning and afternoon game drive, or opt for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch.
The Serengeti is renowned for its immense wildlife concentration, including large prides of lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. The resident animals are abundant year-round.
Depending on the time of year, you may be able to witness parts of the Great Migration, with millions of wildebeest and zebras on the move. Your guide will know the best locations to find the herds.
Overnight stay at the same safari lodge or tented camp in the Serengeti.
Day 3: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater & Departure.
After an early breakfast, you will check out and begin your game drive as you exit the Serengeti.
You will then drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater.
The crater floor is a spectacular, compact ecosystem that is home to the highest density of wildlife in Africa, including the rare black rhino. You have an excellent chance of spotting the "Big Five" in a single day.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor next to the hippo pool.
In the afternoon, you will ascend from the crater and begin the drive back to Arusha for your onward journey.
