Itinerary

Day 1: Addis Ababa – Drive to Arba Minch | Dorze Village Visit

Your Omo Valley adventure begins with an early morning drive south through the scenic Ethiopian Highlands to Arba Minch, a city nestled between lakes and lush hills. In the afternoon, visit the Dorze village, famous for its towering beehive-shaped huts, traditional weaving techniques, and panoramic views over the Great Rift Valley. Learn about their unique lifestyle and taste local fermented bread known as “kocho.”

Day 2: Arba Minch – Drive to Jinka | Konso Culture & Key Afer Market

After breakfast, journey towards Jinka, the cultural gateway to the Omo Valley. En route, explore the Konso UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you'll discover terraced farming, wooden totems, and centuries-old traditions. Later, stop at the lively Key Afer market (on market days ,Thursday), where different tribes such as Ari, Benna, Hamer and Tsemay come together to trade and socialize.

Day 3: Mursi Tribe Encounter – Drive to Turmi via Benna Tribe

Today, venture into Mago National Park to visit the Mursi people, known for their striking lip plates and body scarification. After a respectful and insightful visit, continue your drive to Turmi. Along the way, meet the Benna tribe and spot the traditional “stick walking boys”, just a young Benna cattle herders are doing it to look after their animals from distance.

Day 4: Dasenech & Hamer Tribes | Bull Jumping Ceremony (If Available)

Begin your day with a cultural excursion to the Dasenech tribe, located along the Omo River near the Kenyan border. In the afternoon, visit the Hamer people, known for their elaborate hairstyles, ochre-painted skin, and rich traditions. If you're lucky, witness the famous Bull Jumping Ceremony, a dramatic and sacred initiation ritual for young Hamer men.

Overnight: Turmi

Day 5: Return to Jinka – Flight to Addis Ababa | City Tour & Farewell Dinner

After breakfast, drive back to Jinka to catch your morning flight to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxed afternoon visiting some highlights of the capital or shopping for handmade souvenirs at local craft markets. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Ethiopian farewell dinner with live music and cultural dances before your transfer to the airport.
