Morning Departure from Kalapatthar

Most helicopter flights from Kalapatthar depart in the morning, necessitating an early start to the day. It takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to reach the highest point of the Everest Base Camp (EBC) journey, Kalapatthar. Kalapatthar offers the closest and most breathtaking view of Mount Everest.

Helicopter Boarding and Flight to Lukla

Due to the thin air, only three people can board the helicopter at Kalapatthar, with a maximum weight limit of 240 kg. The helicopter flight from Kalapatthar to Lukla takes approximately 20 minutes.

Stopover in Lukla

The helicopter will stop in Lukla for refueling, which can take about 1 hour. Passengers can explore Lukla Airport and its surroundings, possibly enjoying a cup of coffee during this time.

Continued Flight to Kathmandu

After refueling, the helicopter can accommodate five people, with the maximum weight limit increasing to 350-500 kg. The flight from Lukla to Kathmandu takes approximately 1 hour. The helicopter flight will conclude in Kathmandu, marking the end of the Kalapatthar to Kathmandu helicopter journey.
