Itinerary:

Day 1:

1. The Forbidden City (Approx. 2-2.5 hours):

The Forbidden City was the home of 24 emperors from 1420 until 1911. As the largest and best-preserved imperial palace complex on earth, it presents a stunning contrast: vast squares and grand halls alongside intricate gardens, courtyards, and living quarters. To truly grasp its scale and beauty, you simply have to experience it firsthand! Our tour here will last about two hours, and I’ll be uncovering the rich history behind these magnificent walls for you.

2. Jingshan Park (Approx. 30 minutes)

This park offers the best panoramic view in Beijing. From the hilltop, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking birds-eye view of the entire Forbidden City and downtown Beijing. I’ll explain the fascinating history behind the city’s design and distinctive architecture.

3. Lunch (Optional):

I incorporate food culture into all my tours. Discovering authentic local eats is an integral part of the journey. I’ll recommend and take you to authentic local restaurants based on your tastes. We typically enjoy a meal at a local restaurant where you can order your favorite dishes (a la carte), ensuring a genuine taste of Chinese cuisine. Please don’t hesitate to inform me of any dietary preferences or restrictions.

4. Hutong Tours: Nanluoguxiang Hutong – Houhai – Pipe Street – Bell and Drum Tower (Approx. 1.5 -2 hours):

We'll stroll through the old neighborhoods of Beijing, where bustling shops and quiet alleys tell the city's story. This isn't just a visit—it's a chance to wander like locals and taste the authentic daily life of Beijingers.

Day 2:

1. Mutianyu Great Wall (Approx. 2-3 hours)

For most visitors, walking on the Great Wall is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I always ensure we allocate plenty of time so that everyone can walk, reflect, truly soak it in, and take plenty of memorable pictures.

Once you ascend the Mutianyu Great Wall, you're treated to breathtaking natural scenery. A walk on the Wall offers you the unique experience of appreciating both the majesty of the structure itself and the beauty of the landscape that embraces it.

You have several flexible options for exploring the Great Wall here:

Option A (Easy Round Trip): Take the cable car for a relaxing round trip.

Option B (Up & Down Adventure): Take the chairlift up and the exciting toboggan down.

Option C (The Full Experience): take the cable car up, enjoy a scenic walk from Watchtower 14 to Watchtower 6, and then descend either by toboggan or chairlift.

The beauty of a private tour is its flexibility. You decide how to best experience the Great Wall.

2. Lunch (Optional):

3. "Bird's Nest" and "Water Cube" (Approx. 0.5 hours):

Visit Beijing's Olympic Park to witness the stunning architecture of the 2008 Olympics, enjoy a stroll through its expansive grounds, and experience where world-class sports history meets contemporary urban culture.

Day 3:

1. Summer Palace (Approx. 1.5 hours):

Renowned as one of the world’s most classical gardens, the Summer Palace captivates visitors with its beautiful landscapes and spectacular architecture.

2. Confucius Temple and Imperial College (Approx. 1 hour):

The Temple of Confucius in Beijing is a serene sanctuary dedicated to the great philosopher. Its ancient courtyards, stone steles, and quiet cypress trees offer a place for reflection on his enduring teachings.

The Imperial College, located next to the temple, was China's highest national academy for over 700 years. This historic campus nurtured the scholars and officials who shaped the empire's administration and culture.

3. Lunch (Optional):

4. Lama Temple (Approx. 1 hour):

Step into the Lama Temple (Yonghe Temple), Beijing's premier Tibetan Buddhist monastery. Here, beautifully preserved halls, rare relics, and serene daily rituals offer a profound glimpse into a rich spiritual tradition.

5. Beihai Park (Approx. 1.5 hours):

Beihai Park is one of Beijing's oldest and best-preserved imperial gardens. This ancient imperial garden features beautiful waterways, picturesque bridges, and the landmark White Dagoba, offering a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city.

Day 4:

1. Temple of Heaven (Approx. 1 hour):

Here, you will walk the central axis and explore three magnificent halls, immersing yourself in the heart of ancient imperial rituals. (Visit time: about 1 hour)

2. Qianmen Street and Liulichang Street (Approx. 1.5 hour):

Qianmen Street is a vibrant historical shopping street near Tian'anmen Square. Lined with traditional architecture, time-honored brand stores, and modern shops, it blends old Beijing charm with contemporary life.

Liulichang is a famous antique cultural street known for centuries-old bookstores, art galleries, and traditional handicraft shops. It's the perfect place to explore Chinese calligraphy, painting, and antique collections.

3. Lunch (Optional):

4. 798 Art Zone (Approx. 1.5 -2 hours):

798 Art Zone is Beijing's most famous contemporary art hub, housed in a renovated factory complex with striking Bauhaus architecture. Here, you'll find cutting-edge galleries, studios, and cafes in a uniquely industrial-chic atmosphere.

With 14 years of experience as a Beijing tour guide, let me show you my Beijing. Together, we'll not just see the sights—we'll create a deeply memorable experience.
