Madagascar Adventure: From Lemurs to the Tsingy
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ANTANANARIVO
• Arrival at the airport.
• Visa processing ($30 / €35), payment by card or cash (exact amount recommended).
• Baggage collection, purchase of a SIM card, and currency exchange.
• Transfer to the hotel.
• Rest and briefing on the tour program.
Day 2: ANTANANARIVO – MANTASOA – ANDASIBE (150 km / ~4 h)
• Departure after breakfast at 7:00 AM.
• Motorboat excursion to Nosy Soa, the island of tame lemurs.
• Lunch in Moramanga.
• Visit Vakona Forest Lodge: lemur island and crocodile farm.
• Check-in and rest at the hotel.
• Evening walk in the forest to observe nocturnal lemurs and other wildlife.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: ANDASIBE – ANTANANARIVO (150 km / ~4 h)
• Departure after breakfast at 8:00 AM.
• Visit VOIMMA Park and safari to see the Indri-Indri, the largest lemurs.
• Lunch in Moramanga.
• After lunch, return to the capital.
• Stop at Marozevo to visit the Peyrieras Reserve: chameleons, geckos, snakes, frogs, and other reptiles.
• Check-in at the hotel and dinner.
Day 4: ANTANANARIVO – ANTIRABE (200 km / ~6 h)
• Breakfast and departure at 7:00 AM.
• Transfer to Antsirabe — the city of rickshaws and mineral springs.
• Along the way: rice fields, rivers, beautiful mountains, and colorful villages.
• Stop in Ambatolampy to visit a local aluminum workshop.
• Upon arrival in Antsirabe, lunch at Valahara Café.
• Short sightseeing tour of the city by car and rickshaw.
• Visit the volcanic lakes Tritriva and Andraikiba.
• Return to the city center, check-in at the hotel, and dinner.
Day 5: ANTIRABE – MORONDAVA (500 km / ~12 h)
• Departure at 5:00 AM towards Morondava.
• Breakfast at a local restaurant in Mandoto.
• Pass a gold mine along the way and see locals panning for gold.
• Enjoy the diverse landscapes of western Madagascar.
• Picnic lunch on the road.
• If time allows — visit the Baobab Alley for sunset.
• Arrival in Morondava, check-in at the hotel, and dinner.
Day 6: MORONDAVA – BEKOPAKA (220 km / ~10 h)
• Breakfast at the hotel and departure at 7:00 AM.
• Several stops along the way to admire baobab landscapes.
• Jeep journey to Bekopaka — gateway to Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park.
• Crossing the Tsiribihina River by jeep ferry (~1 hour).
• Lunch in Belo-sur-Tsiribihina.
• Continue the journey with a second ferry crossing over the Manambolo River.
• Arrival in Bekopaka, check-in at the hotel, and dinner.
Day 7: TSINGY DE BEMARAHA NATIONAL PARK
• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Departure to the famous “Stone Forest.”
• Explore the impressive limestone karst formations shaped by rain and wind over centuries. These unique landscapes cover 152 km² and have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990.
• The park entrance is about 25 km (~1 hour) from Bekopaka.
• Guided tour of approximately 4 hours (requires caution and good physical condition). Safety equipment provided.
• Walk through the forest where lemurs, birds, and other wildlife live.
• Tsingy adventure: narrow passages, cave exploration, and climbing rock formations.
• The Tsingy reach heights of up to 50 m, with a viewpoint for panoramic views.
• Crossing a suspension bridge and descending through the rock labyrinth.
• Picnic in the park.
• Return to Bekopaka and rest at the hotel.
Day 8: BEKOPAKA – MORONDAVA (220 km / ~10 h)
• Morning breakfast at the hotel.
• Departure to Morondava with a crossing over the Manambolo River.
• Four-hour drive to Belo-sur-Tsiribihina.
• Continue the journey with another ferry crossing over the Tsiribihina River.
• Lunch at Relais du Kirindy hotel restaurant.
• Visit the “Love Baobab.”
• Stop at the famous Baobab Alley to admire the sunset.
• Arrival in Morondava, check-in at the hotel, and dinner.
Day 9: MORONDAVA – ANTANANARIVO (by plane)
• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Transfer to Morondava airport.
• Upon arrival in Antananarivo — lunch at a nearby restaurant.
• In the afternoon, visit the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
• After the visit — check-in at the hotel, rest, and dinner.
Day 10: ANTANANARIVO
• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Walk around the city center and visit a souvenir shop.
• Visit the Rova Royal Palaces — a historical museum.
• Return to the hotel.
• Transfer and lunch at a restaurant near the airport.
