3 Days Gorilla Trekking Volcanoes national Park Rwanda

This 3-day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking experience takes you to Volcanoes National Park, where you’ll have the rare opportunity to encounter mountain gorillas in their natural environment.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport or pick-up from your hotel in Kigali, you will be driven to Volcanoes National Park. Once there, you can relax and get ready for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure. The park is home to over 360 mountain gorillas, representing a significant portion of the world’s remaining population.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at Gorilla Nest Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, or Kinigi Guest House (Lunch and Dinner provided).

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, around 8:00 am, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing and allocation to a gorilla group. You will then begin your trek into the forest in search of these incredible animals. In Africa, mountain gorillas can only be found in Rwanda and Bwindi, Uganda.

You will carry packed drinking water, as the trek can be challenging—especially during the dry season or when the gorillas have moved far. Trekking in Rwanda typically lasts between 2 to 7 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas.

Once you find them, you will be allowed to spend one hour observing and photographing them, which offers a memorable and rewarding experience.

After the trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch and some relaxation. In the evening, you may visit the Twin Lakes or take a short self-guided walk around Kinigi.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at Gorilla Nest Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, or Kinigi Guest House (Full Board).

Day 3: Return to Kigali

Following breakfast, you will travel back to Kigali. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a brief city tour, including visits to the Genocide Memorial, cultural sites, craft centers, shops, and local markets.

Depending on your flight schedule, you will either have dinner and an overnight stay at Cascadia apartments or Ebenezer hotel apartments , or you will be transferred directly to the airport for your departure.
